The Cabin at MPS Noorderzon in Amsterdam

Great location and a niche stay. The check in was confusing as there are several boats in the area and we didn’t receive any in depth instructions. The room was fine but you can hear everything around you: anyone coming/going, neighbours talking quietly, people above in the lounge area. Our room didn’t have a curtain so it was always really bright due to fairy lights at night. I didn’t sleep well the entire stay. There’s always a lot of condensation each morning which pools on the floor and dampens the end of the bed! The loo was unflushed and not clean on arrival and the shower runs cold after a few seconds.

Check in instructions were incorrect - the front desk team were on another boat. A fault on board led to Intolerable noise from pumps at night meant I had to leave and find another hotel at 01:00

My friend and I spent one night on the boat, and while the setting itself was cool, the staff completely ruined the experience. From the moment we arrived, we were met with absolute rudeness. There was no proper welcome—just a few staff members lounging outside, lazily telling us to go inside and drop our stuff. No guidance, no hospitality, just a dismissive attitude.

Checking out was just as chaotic, with unclear instructions that left us confused. At one point, we walked into the reception and witnessed what appeared to be the manager aggressively yelling at employees in front of guests—shockingly unprofessional. The staff was beyond unhelpful; every time we asked for something, they responded with visible annoyance, rolling their eyes, sighing, and speaking to us in a condescending, outright rude manner.

I’ve traveled all over the world and have never experienced such disgraceful service. The staff’s attitude was appalling, making us feel like an inconvenience rather than guests. It’s a shame because the experience itself could have been great, but thanks to the incompetent and hostile staff, it was completely ruined. The room was tiny, which we expected, but the dreadful service was far worse than we could have imagined. Avoid this place unless you enjoy being treated like a nuisance.

We were booked for two nights here, the room was small and dirty with a window in the ceiling that looks down on your bed. The toilets don't work and the room did not lock. There were people who weren't staying on the boat until 4am shouting and running around. Two of them broke into our room and when we looked for staff there was none. We booked another hotel for the next night. I don't think I'm over reacting when I say this was the worst place I've ever stayed we left because it's not safe.

The boat is well located but there are some things that are worth mentioning. The staff is ‘just doing their job’ to the minimum, on the boat you hear all the noises of other guests and staff and our cabin was leaking water (condensation) which is normal at a boat but not comfortable when it’s above the bed…
Breakfast is good but also to the minimum. All together a little overpriced but the location makes it a ‘okay choice’ after all.
