The issues we found were that if you flushed the toilet (which was only behind a glass door) it made the whole room smell of sewer which wasn't nice. The fact the glass door wasn’t even a full door meant not much privacy either.
The one thing I really struggled with was sleep. I thought it would be the city noise but that actually wasnt an issue at all it was the rooms upstairs. On the first night it sounded like someone was walking up and down continuously for about 2 hours starting at about 2am. I spoke to reception who said the people staying upstairs were in a rush to check out that morning. Then the same thing happened every night after that too. I didnt have one full nights sleep. I get that the building is old and not built like new hotels but its recently had a referb so surely they would do some sound proofing?
It’s a shame because the location and decor are great but due to the negative points we would not return.
The complimentary drinks are the best!
Ideally located for everything you will need.
The hotel from outside stands out, outside its set back slightly from the road with its own outdoor seating area where you can sit, relax and watch the world go by. The hotel itself just pulls you in, the staff are warm and welcoming and very friendly. The decor inside just totally oozes style and is well thought off. Lifts to all floors.
The rooms are very clean and comfortable and want for nothing. Bad points? There are none whatsoever.
Planning on visiting Amsterdam, this is the hotel you need to book, but save us space because we will be coming back..
Breakfast was good, with plenty to choose from.
Staff all very friendly and extremely helpful and welcoming. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Underground rooms with small window (jail window) and no view, just a wall
No noise conciliation, you can hear other guest, even the cleaning lady when she comes in the morning lot of noise (vacuuming &talking) I would recommend it just because of location
Great breakfast and friendly staff.
Earlier check-in than expected.
We could also store our package any time we wanted.
The heater wasn't that strong enough in our basement room.
