We were there in 2001. It was fantastic then and we think of going back to New Zealand just to go to the Great Ponsonby.

A perfect base for a couple of days to recover from my jet lag and explore Auckland! Loved my boutique room and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

The Great Ponsonby Art Hotel is a real gem. A quirky boutique hotel, but has everything. Very clean and quiet rooms, kettle in room, shower and great choice for breakfast. Located within a 20 minute walk to outskirts of Auckland but with great eateries within a few mins walk in Ponsonby. We stayed for just 2 nights but would highly recommend to stay as a great place.

I really enjoyed my stay. Very clean and comfortable. Staff was incredibly nice and welcoming. Close enough to walk around to restaurants and shops. Breakfast was impressive; great choices, freshly made, delicious.

A wonderful gem near the city center of Auckland. Lovely artsy building with clean and comfortable rooms, a cozy common room, nice porch area and even a small yard. Super kind and accommodating hostess and staff. Super quite street and neighborhood perfect for resting after transoceanic flight. Great location close to small shops and interesting places to eat. Each room had extensive and well organized list (with many additional descriptive comments) of places to eat, things to see. Wonderful breakfast in the morning. Super value for the price.

T'was another comfortable and enjoyable stay here @ Great Ponsonby Art Hotel. Like previous stays, the staff are ever so friendly and helpful. Cooked breakfasts are fresh quality with great conversations going on with the fellow lodgers. The staff are as ever friendly, polite and helpful. Love the pasifika interior. Awesome-azzz. Totally recommend.

This was our third stay at the Great Ponsonby Hotel. Excellent hotel. The location is great. We enjoy checking out the shops, restaurants and bars on Ponsonby Road. Auckland CBD is an easy walk.

Super disappointed. We used to frequent here in the evenings after work for cake and coffee . Been turned away twice now at 9:30 because they are closing early, because its supposedly quiet. Well its about to get a lot more quiet.

Love this spot. A world away from the fussy, organic hipster cafes you see so often these days. Causal, friendly, no-nonsense. A bit eclectic. Highly recommended.

Great raspberry tea.
I use this venue regularly for casual business meetings as I can always get a private table and the staff are friendly and helpful.
The meals are good and reasonably priced for the area. Parking is on street do first in best dressed but there are plenty of side streets around for safe parking.
Also you never know who you may bump into, a few local celebs feel comfortable wandering in frequently without causing a stir !

I had the risotto, followed by by black forest gateau. The risotto was beautifully done, creamy and smooth, as good as any I've had at La Bella Italia. Fantastic meal.

Absolutely appalled at the horrendous level of service. We ordered, 20 minutes later we asked if our food was coming soon only to be told they never gave the order to the kitchen and they can start cooking now. They literally didn’t even care that they had just not put the order in. Will never go back here again.
