Prince's Gate Hotel in Rotorua

We went to this Restaurant to celebrate the Christmas day. So the staff was quiete bussy . We placed our order and than we need to be very, very patient. We got our food after approximately 1 hour. The food was very delicious. But the waiter forgot to bring the rice, so i needed to remind him. FOOD GOD - SERVICE BAD.

Waitied FOREVER, terrible service. Kept telling us 5 more minutes over and over for over an HOUR, wasn’t even that busy! Waiter said he would “check on our food” and I watched him and he never went back into kitchen. Totally ruined our X-mas eve meal!!

I've traveled a lot. And this place managed to have the worst experience in a restaurant of my life. The waiter (I don't recall his name although I'd definitely remember him if I see him again) was very rude from the start. He didn't help us at all at explaining the dishes and didn't even make an effort to do so. A couple minutes after we ordered, we needed to ask him for more beverage. We kept calling him and giving him signals (nothing out of the ordinary, just usual hand signals that everyone does to get a waiter's attention) and we saw that he noted, but not once he bothered to come to us. When dishes arrived, some of our orders were wrong. God forbid telling him that. He just walked out as if nothing have happened. When we asked for the bill, we tried asking him another thing but he just as usual walked out without saying anything. With us, he didn't once smiled or anything. Just kept a poker face. I know for a fact that language wasn't the problem since I heard him talking and laughing with the other waiters in english and I do speak english. When we left, I had to go after him to at least ask his name so I could do some sort of report. He told it to me but sadly I forgot. Nothing to tell about the food. This experience ruined everything else about that place.

OVER PRICED food
one star for service and that was all. We ordered 2 of the specials, one lamb shank and other one was the fish snapper. lamb shank was cold and snapper wasn't grilled as it was written on the menu board.
And worst of all the money we paid for that food.

Extremely slow service. We had to constantly ask staff (none of which were designated servers or hostesses) for menus, drinks...etc. They warn everyone that the food will take forever and that they were honest about Hahah. Bread appetizer isn't free and be prepared to pay a lot for "gourmet" portions. Only good thing is I didn't get sick and the food was in fact delicious. Seemed like the staff didn't know what the heck they were doing haha. Very unorganized

Terrible service. Management assumes you know your meal will arrive an hour late if they're 'busy'. Management is so disorganized they can't keep track who has already paid. Manager will assume if he didn't handle your bill you are sneaking off without paying and accost you from across the room. That's the manager's idea of customer service. Food tasted adequate. Customer service is a fail. Our experience with this restaurant left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. Would have left without saying anything but manager's customer service and interpersonal skills made that impossible.
