Hotel BUKOVINA in Bukowina Tatrzanska

Its a cool place just the rooms are too small for the price and we requested a 3 bed room and they gave us 1 big bed and a couch that was very hard to sleep on. The food was allright wasnt the best but the pools where awsome

The plan was to enjoy a relaxing spa weekend without the kids for my wife's 40th birthday, but unfortunately we returned home tired from lack of good sleep. I will start with the positives points: 1. The thermal pools. This is probably the biggest perk at this hotel. You can enjoy the many pools they have including those outdoors where the water temperature is 40C, while the outside air temp is -2C and snowing. They have jaccuzzi tubs, saunas, quiet pool, water slides and kids pools. Included in the hotel price. 2. Various spa treatments, which my wife took advantage of. Pay extra. 3. Good selection of food for both breakfast and dinner. We went with the half-board option, and were not dissapointed. 4. Bar coctails were very good, and craft beers. 5. Extra entertainment: game room, billiards, bowling alley. gym. You can't get bored. 6. Friendly and helpfull staff. Now the negatives: 1. Room was definitely not a 4-star quality. 3-star at best. The first thing we noticed when walking into our Standard Room were the carpet stains. Then I looked at the ceiling and saw more stains (exploded cola or beer). Some furniture had visible signs of damage. 2. Lack of any noise proofing. We could hear the people next to us on both sides. At night there was a party on the parking lot and on one of the balconies. People were screaming and shouting unitl 5 am. The balcony doors were of poor quality, you could feel cold air and noisie coming through. I've slept at a 4-star in the city center of Shanghai, and it was much more quiet there compared to Bukovina. 3. The mattress was also not the most comfortable. 4. Bathroom was clean, but needed some repairs. Where the wall tiles met the floor tiles was a nice gap where silicone once was. Silicone is not expensive, just fix it please. 5. At dinner you only get water, if you want tea or coffee you pay extra. First time I experienced this with a half-board deal. Normally you have to pay for alcohols, but water, soft drinks and hot beverages are included. I would definitely return to the spa and the pools, but for better sleep I would rent a log home insetad. When I go to a spa hotel I expect to relax and get good sleep, unfortunately the good sleep was missing here.
