ibis Porto Sao Joao in Porto

The hotel is located on the roof of a large shopping center. Next to the mall (and thus the hotel) is one of the largest hospitals in Porto and Portugal in general. The avenue in front of the hotel has excellent tram/metro service (which runs above ground in the center and underground elsewhere), allowing you to reach the city center in under ten minutes. The area is safe, even at night.
The mall closes at 10 PM, so if you return after that, you can’t go through the mall and reach the hotel in a minute—you’ll need to take a longer route via the street.
In front of the reception, on the mall’s rooftop, there are free parking spots for hotel guests.
The hotel is dated, but the furnishings are pleasant, all inspired by music and rhythm. The room I stayed in was adequately sized, with an LCD TV but no minibar or safe. The bathroom was appropriately sized and had fixed hygiene products. I would have appreciated better cleanliness.
The breakfast was excellent, especially the automatic machine that made delicious pancakes. The selection of fresh fruit salad, pastries (including excellent pasteis de nata), and savory dishes was very welcome. The staff was attentive and present.
There are no restaurants in the immediate area.

Very well located for the purpose of out trip, and the staff was very nice. The Breakfast was also very good. The room is fine considering it's a two star hotel, it was apparently clean, but it is very small, there are barely any towels (we were 3 guess) and the pillows are just bad. It would also be great to have some outlets to charge our devices near the bed.

Access is through the hospital and as it is not expected to enter a hotel through a hospital, we are forced to enter a paid parking lot.
The bathroom of the room where I stayed has mold on the walls and ceiling.

The reception staff were very friendly.
It's not the best hotel in Porto, certainly...
