The nearest public sandy beach, Anse Marie Laure, is about 450 meters away, reachable by a 10-15 minute walk through a jungle path and uphill terrain. The main tourist beach at Beau Vallon is around 30-40 minutes on foot or accessible by bus, with stops located 8-10 minutes away by foot from the lodge. Nearby shops are a short 2-3 minute walk from the bus stop. Free parking is available for guests who rent a car, which is recommended given the hillside location.

Tips

If you plan to visit the beach frequently, consider renting a car due to the uphill walk and distance.
Bring mosquito repellent or request mosquito nets, as insects can be an issue during early mornings and evenings.

Booking online is always a bit of a gamble, but the Forest Lodge is exactly as promised. All the photos are legit and it is indeed a very cozy guest house a bit away from all the noise, except for the many animal sounds from the surrounding beautiful forest.

What we valued most while staying there for 12 nights was first of all the outstanding kindness and helpfulness of the manager and his staff. We were even lucky enough to have been offered a dinner, which was absolutely fantastic.

As mentioned, we were very happy with the ambient and the abundance of space in the room/studio. Siting on the balcony and drinking your favorite morning/evening drink while watching birds and fruit bats flying all around is as good as it gets.

We were surprised how well the staff maintain clean and tidy rooms as well as the surroundings of the house.

We were also a big fan of the in-house drinks fridge, which is self-service.

The only thing that could see some improvement in my opinion is the kitchenette. It is useful, but very basic. The stove is painfully slow. A gas stove or induction plate would be a superb upgrade.

For some people, it should be noted, that there is quite a walk to the beach. There is a small local beach, but it is not as nice as the main one in Beau Vallon and it is not extremely close either. That said, we had no problem walking every day and using the bus. There is plenty of bus stops all around and it is a good way to explore the island.

From the lodge to the main road is about 8-10 minutes walk, and a further 1 minute to the bus stop and another 2 minutes to the closest shop. The local beach is around 10-15 minutes walking and the main beach is around 30-40 minutes walking. If this is a problem for you, rent a car. There is free parking at the lodge.

The hotel is located a bit uphill, and you pass through jungle on the way to the beach. The room was spacious and clean. It had its own kitchen and living room. The staff was very friendly and always ready to help.

The Forest Lodge is a very welcoming establishment. The rooms are spacious, air-conditioned, and have a splendid terrace overlooking the forest. It's just a few kilometers from the beautiful Beau Vallon beach. The lodge has a partnership with a restaurant that offers delicious Creole cuisine. Excellent value.

Affordable price, excellent location, beautiful surrounding atmosphere, ravishing flowers. Most friendly and helpful receptionist and staff ever, lovely and great first impression of Guest House. Everything about the Guest House was exceptional. It was clean, stylish, roomy. Room itself was well equipped, cozy with a huge balcony.
We had chance to taste some food that was cooked by the owner Stephen. All the dishes were yummy, charming and hihgly pleasant to the taste. We were very pleased with our stay. We hope to be back for a longer visit in the future. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality, comfy room and delicious dinner!

If you are looking for a decent accommodation at a comparatively low price , Forest lodge is a good option.
Pros:
-The owner and staff are really friendly.
-Pricing
-Have basic cookware & cutlery for cooking
- Grocery in 10 min walkable range
-Free car parking

Cons:
-Furniture looked a bit old
- Smelly bathroom
- its quite an uphill walk to Forest lodge, if you have a car, better
