Nuria in Tarragona

My reservation was under my official ID name, Fatma Nur. The staff could not get my name right and even called a friend to listen and read it. They made me repeat my own name close to seven times. It stopped feeling like a mistake and started feeling like they simply weren’t bothering to listen. To make it worse, they then read my name back to me in their own mispronounced version, which was ridiculous. My name is an extremely common name, and this level of carelessness felt like discrimination.

My 1st solo trip and there are only 2 positives about my stay, clean room and incredible shower. The restaurant opens when it feels like it, and the bar food is incredibly minimal, offering only bread options. £17.50 euros for ham and tomato bread. No restaurants are open locally unless you head into the marina or the old town which is absolutely beautiful. I have to say that I did not feel welcomed and for that reason, I would not recommend this hotel for solo travellers. There were only 2 staff members that smiled at me for my 5 days. The young bar girl on Monday and Tuesday and the receptionist on Wednesday evening. The 2 women behind the bar on Wednesday did not smile once and I feel do not shut the hospitality industry. Such a shame for what is a decently decorated hotel.
