The day out at Citrus Hotel Hikkaduwa was thoroughly disappointing and did not meet the standards expected for the price of LKR 5,500 per person. Upon arrival, the customary welcome drink a basic courtesy extended to guests was not offered automatically, requiring us to request it instead, which reflected poorly on their guest service.

The international buffet presented a very limited selection, with only chicken and beef available as protein options. The absence of other meats or seafood was surprising and diminished the variety one would anticipate from such a buffet. Side dishes were equally basic, restricted to steamed rice and plain noodles, which did not offer much in terms of flavor or complementing the main courses.

Portion sizes, especially for the chicken, were small and refills were infrequent, leaving the dining experience lacking in generosity. Salad options were minimal to the point of being virtually absent, while the bread rolls were dry and stale. The tomato soup served was bland and uninspired, failing to engage the palate.

The dessert selection was underwhelming; the chocolate cake offered in the evening was unappetizing and lacked freshness. In addition to the food quality, the physical environment was disappointing. The dining area appeared outdated, and there was a noticeable water leak from the roof above, indicating poor maintenance.

Customer service compounded these issues, demonstrating inattentiveness and a lack of genuine hospitality throughout our visit.

Overall, considering the high price point and the limited culinary offerings, coupled with poor service and facility maintenance, Citrus Hotel Hikkaduwa cannot be recommended for day visitors seeking a quality dining experience.

I am writing to formally express my outrage over the experience my family and I endured at Citrus Waskaduwa on 25th December. This was meant to be a leisure outing, but it was, without exaggeration, a complete disaster. I will also be sharing this experience publicly on Google Reviews.

The level of service and quality at Citrus Waskaduwa is utterly unacceptable. The food was inedible, lacking basic seasoning, and the facilities were poorly maintained. Our group, which spent approximately 150,000 LKR, was treated appallingly pushed aside, ignored, and made to pay an additional 1,500 LKR for a bath towel. The rooms were substandard, with inadequate towels and no proper rugs. The dining area was unhygienic and smelled awful.

For a hotel charging these rates, this standard of service is completely intolerable. I am extremely disappointed and demand a formal explanation for how such an establishment can operate in this manner. Appropriate corrective action should be taken immediately, or this issue will be escalated further.

This experience has ensured that neither I nor anyone I know will ever visit Citrus Waskaduwa again.
