Chinthaka as you know I am trained to use words, but rubbish on a computer. So you will need to place this yourself please. Fantastic huge Mawella lagoon has now been cleared of ****, so birdwatching on the new luxurious padded rafts with a large icebox of your choice of drinks is a splendid way to spend a couple of hours at sunset. Book in advance on phone and go to the Sanu Lagoon hotel at 4.30 sharp, where helpful staff will escort you to your raft. I saw pelicans, egrets, monkeys, kingfishers, a water monitor and a huge colony of fruit bats. This is a beautiful peaceful way to enjoy Nature with friends and family. We go often! Cm

Dear hotel manager, Please pay attention to this, I hereby request that all the broken and damaged tiles in the children's swimming pool at your hotel be replaced. My two and a half year old daughter suffered abrasions and cuts on her legs in several places after swimming in the pool.
Recently we had visited to this place. HB basis. Foods are very good and very tasty. But, we had raisin pudding (watalappan) as a dessert for the night after dinner. But that was felt like expired. The taste was felt like sour taste and a sticky texture. We are totally refused that foods. The room is good, spacious, comfortable and clean. But there was no cups,heater jug, tea coffee suger items. Actually there was nothing basic things. Other than that staff was very helpful and friendly.
The next morning, while my car was parked in front of the hotel, a worker had swept all the dirt and dust from the top floor down onto my car.

We had a very pleasant stay at SANU Lagoon Resort & Spa. The property is located in a peaceful and serene setting with a beautiful direct view of the lagoon, which made the stay extremely relaxing.
The rooms are newly renovated, clean, and comfortable. The location is great — quiet and away from the crowds, yet only about a 10-minute drive from Hiriketiya Beach.
The only small downside was that there is no reception desk or staff available during the night. We needed blankets and some assistance late at night but were unable to get help at that time.
Overall, it’s a lovely place to unwind, and with round-the-clock support, it would be even better.

We initially Booked the stay here for one night but the staff was so lovely and the hotel had so many activities to offer that we could not finish it in one day and had to extend it to two days!
The rooms were so clean, the shower had amazing water pressure and they are so accommodating to every request!
The pool is kept top order and cleaned twice a day.
We noticed that they kept mopping the floor atleast once every hour after we walked by, with medical grade cleaning supplies.
The kayak ride is free complimentary to the room and even the Hot Tub was a lovely experience for a small added price.
The nature and scenery you experience from the resort is breathtaking, and you get to watch the occasional lagoon animals as they swim by and catch fish! It’s a beautiful place to truly connect with nature.
We travelled from Colombo to Tangalle by public transport and then used pickme from Tangalle to the Resort.
You can also rent a bike from Tangalle town to Sanu Resort or take the bus to Matara.

We didn't stay here but went for a boat trip on the lagoon at sunset. I would definitely recommend this as a lovely, peaceful experience. The boat was non motorised and very comfortable with big cushions. This allowed for lots of bird and wildlife spotting as the boat silently glided across the water.
The trip included a complimentary fruit platter, and drinks could also be purchased on board.
Best time of day to do this is about 5pm.

We stopped by Sanu Lagoon Resort and Spa in Morakatiyara for a late lunch during our travels, and it turned out to be a pleasant experience. Although it was outside the usual lunch hours and the regular menu was limited, the staff was kind enough to prepare fried rice upon request. The meal was fresh, tasty, and satisfying — a simple dish done right.
The resort itself is spacious and well-maintained. We noticed that there was plenty of open space around, making it feel peaceful and relaxing. The washrooms were clean, which is always appreciated during a stopover. Parking was not an issue either, as there was a good amount of space available.
One of the standout features was the service. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable despite the odd hour of our visit. It gave us a good impression of the hospitality offered at the resort.
Overall, it’s a great place to pause and recharge if you're passing through Morakatiyara. I’d love to return for a longer stay and explore more of what the resort has to offer.
