Thaulle Pure Ayurveda Resort - Yala in Tissamaharama

We had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for just two nights, and from the moment we arrived we were amazed by the service. After a long journey, we received a warm welcome from the manager and staff, along with refreshing drinks on arrival to help us relax.

The atmosphere was incredibly calm and peaceful, and we knew straight away that this was a place where we could truly switch into relaxation mode. On our first day, we were treated to the most amazing massages. There was an on-site doctor who took the time to sit with us and understand what treatments would suit us best, based on our body temperature and how we were feeling that day.

The food was excellent! The staff had beautifully set our table with flowers and hearts to celebrate our honeymoon, which was such a thoughtful and attentive touch (cake).

We would absolutely love to return for a longer stay next time so we can fully embrace the wellness and relaxation experience they offer.

Lovely hotel. Beautiful local decor. Luxury. Concerned staff. Lovely views over the lake. The rooms are surrounded with beautiful wood. The grounds are lovely too. They did not serve the local specialty egg hoppers for breakfast (I think it is served for dinner), but I asked for it and the chef said he would make it for me and it was delicious. Great service.

What a wonderful place! The service provided at this place was impeccable, from the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed by Shawn and his team. Shawn was a delight and made us feel comfortable instantly. We visited with our elderly mother and with limited mobility she was look after exceptionally by the team. The rooms are great size and resort is so relaxing. The treatments were really good and from day one to the final day we had therapies to help us rejuvenate. Dr Upal and the team were lovely. What made the stay even special was the way the food and beverage team look after us, star employee is Prasanna nothing was too much for him and the level of care and his attention to detail was outstanding. Being vegetarian, he ensured we were catered for and also asked my mum if she would prefer anything special. It was these tiny personalised touches that made the stay at Thaulle beautiful. Also thank you to Dineth and the rest of the team. Everything is organic and often grown in their farms or on the land. The fruit served was so delicious. The owner was on site, he drove us personally to his beach property, where swimming pool and restaurant are opened, while the rooms are currently under construction. Great location so watch out for the launch! The only downside for Thaulle was ths mosquitos as the place is near yoda lake, so don't forget to keep some topical cream nearby. All in all, from my wellness stays this is a home away from home experience and if your thinking of a wellness retreat in Sri Lanka give this place a go!

Whilst there were some issues with our booking in relation to the details within the advert for the hotel which we have now resolved with *******, we still want to leave a positive review.

The staff were absolutely amazing and were so accommodating, and in particular Arutha (food and beverage) delivered the best customer service we have experienced in a long time. We really felt like he could not do enough and was a pleasure to be around each day.

It was my friends 50th and they pulled out all the stops for the evening even though it was New Year’s Eve. They made an amazing cake and decorated the room which was really lovely and I’m grateful to the manager for his/his teams efforts.

The beachside bar and pool is in a beautiful location and the beach is amazing. It’s about 15 minutes in the shuttle to get there but is worth a visit.

The chef made some really tasty food and as a vegan I appreciated the extra effort he went to. Whilst the fixed menu wasn’t really what we had hoped for, I have to say most of the dishes were lovely. The chef took the time to come and speak to us which again was appreciated.

Whilst the Ayurveda treatments were not what we wanted, the manager assisted us as much as he could, and for that we were grateful and believe the hotel deserves a positive review for the time, effort and service the staff gave us.

5 star team from the greeting to the minute you leave. Nothing is too much. Big shout out to Shawn and Prasana. I'll never forget my birthday celebration you made for me! Truly memorable. Location is perfect on the side of the lake. Lovely pool and a very nice massage included in the wellness package. The food was very tasty authentic Sri Lankan. Very quiet as everyone is on safari but great place to relax and rewind. Shame the decor is getting tired and old but oddly adds to its authenticity.

The hotel is located close to the Yala national Park, where I was lucky to see a leopard and has a private beach, with reachable by hotel jeep. For detoxing and recharging I booked an Ayurveda retreat at Thaulle and stayed in a wonderful, spacious and lovely maintained room, with a stunning view over the lake. Yes, it is a bit longer trip from Colombo, but It was more than worth it. I was in time picked up by super friendly driver Dulash, who brought us safely to the hotel and stopped once a while patiently, so that I could take a stunning sunrise photo during the ride. The moment I arrived, I was warmly greeted by the front desk staff and my room was immediately ready. Imisch and the Ladies were exceptionally friendly and made me feel all the time so much welcome. A tasty food was served everyday by great Chefs, always accordingly to my Dosha type. The communication between Hotel and Ayurveda treatments was impressive. Beverage & Food Mr. Prasanna, Dineth and the service team were super attentive, friendly and always a step ahead! Mentioning the both Doctors, who were like magicians for me. They could tell what was wrong by looking into my eyes and tongue; always available and every evening checking in on us guests, answering questions or explaining treatments. Nislala and Chanoda were my fantastic treatment ladies and they executed the doc's treatment for me with high professionality and an honest smile every day! One last sentence to the cleaning boys: Thanks so much for a super clean room, flower decorations - and opening the difficult water bottles cap for me :o) This hotel is super managed and every last employee knows exactly what to do! Disadvantage: I am spoiled like a Queen, so this is difficult to top! Thanks a lot for wonderful vacation, I really appreciated my stay with you.

Thaulle Ayurveda Resort is an absolute gem. The location is unbelievably peaceful—right by the sea and surrounded by nature, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. What truly made my stay unforgettable was the staff: incredibly kind, attentive, and always willing to help with a smile. The Ayurvedic massages were some of the best I've ever had—deeply relaxing and professionally done. If you're looking for true rest, healing, and hospitality, this is the place.

It is also very close to the Yala and Bundara Nationalparks. You can go there for a half day trip and see some awesome wildlife.

From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed and well taken care of. The hotel itself is beautifully maintained, with tasteful decor and all the amenities one could hope for. However, what truly set our stay apart was the incredibly professional and friendly staff.

Every team member we encountered went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, but I’d especially like to highlight the Food & Beverage Manager, Mr. Arutha Prasanna, whose attention to detail and warm demeanor left a lasting impression. His knowledge of service, paired with his genuine passion for hospitality, gives a memorable dining experience.

It’s rare to see such dedication and excellence in service, and it was clear that the entire staff is highly trained and committed to creating an outstanding guest experience. This level of hospitality truly reflects a deep understanding of what makes a stay exceptional.

We’ll definitely return—and recommend this hotel - also with its Ayurveda treatment and medical support!
