Mawella Beach Resort in Tangalle

On check in, the manager advised be careful getting in and out of the bed due to a sharp ledge built around it. Unfortunately during the night I hit my shin on the corner which bled profusely. Next morning discussing my experience with another guest had suffered the same injury, both of us sporting bruises and cuts.

I’d like to know what idiot thought putting a ledge around the bed was a good idea. This room would not be allowed in Europe is it would be deemed dangerous.

The room was big, the TV was too far away to watch, however it didn’t work anyway. Only 3 tea bags, no coffee and 1 toilet roll. For $100/night an absolute rip off.

Nobody eating in the restaurant, all their guests were eating at the beach which gives you an idea. Breakfast was average at best and the items were delivered at random. Very unhappy with Booking pictures which are fraudulent and do not represent reality.

Very angry, I feel robbed and the management couldn’t care less as they had insisted on money upfront. Fortunately we only suffered two nights here. AVOID

An excellent location on Mawella beach. Room was good but the placement and design of the furniture meant a banged shin a few times. The grounds are a bit shabby. Good swimming pool Breakfast was poor We had lunch once - nice We had dinner once - awful. Both dishes over salted to the point of inedibility and one was absolutely cold. We sent the cold one back and asked for a hot, non salty one. The hotel was very quiet so the over-attentiveness of the staff became intrusive and rather disturbing. Overall I think this hotel is overpriced.
