We didn't any noise from outside where all the Restaurant's
We loved Koh Mak and looking for our next trip back

If your not planning too get a motorbike or golf buggy
The Makathanee is for you with everything you need

If you are getting a motorbike you will realise all the other hotels on the beach are far from other choices of Restaurant's
The roads are very dark at night with no much Street lighting

Nice place, with a good breakfast.

We've stayed at this hotel many times over the past 20 years. In the last year alone, we've been twice: 7 days in April (one room for two) and 9 days in January (two rooms with family). The hotel is quite old but well-maintained. Its main selling point is its central location, and it's a proper hotel, not just a guesthouse on the island. Breakfast is perfectly edible. The Wi-Fi is slow, but it works. Room cleaning is good and done daily. I've stayed in almost all room types. If you want to be right on the beach, the best are the Villa Beach Front rooms from S2 to S6. Q (Queen) and K (King) rooms are good for families with many children or if you prefer to all stay together. D (Deluxe) rooms are for couples or families with one child. All these rooms face the sea. There are also 4 smaller C (City View) rooms with windows facing the road, which are the most budget-friendly. Message the hotel before you arrive, and they'll pick you up at the pier for 20 Baht per person, and drop you off too. Check-out is at 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM at the latest. If you want to check out later, it's best to book an extra day. A suggestion for the hotel: please wipe down the very top shelves in the closet where the umbrellas are kept sometimes. It feels like we're the only ones who do it in our room. But it's not a major issue; the other shelves are clean. Rooms have safes and kettles. Generally, rooms have one large bed and a small sofa. You can book through Trip.com or pay the hotel upon arrival. I've done both, but Trip.com is easier – book it and forget about it. If you pay at the hotel, cash is better as cards sometimes don't work. If you have any questions, email the hotel; they usually reply within a day.

The location is generally good, with shops and restaurants nearby. The room was meh, I've seen better. What you see on the website isn't real, so it was a bit of a shame upon arrival. I'll probably rent a motorbike to explore the island. The food is good and tasty. We ate at the same restaurant for three days. It was incredibly delicious and inexpensive... simply top-notch!

Rooms are little bit old, but clean!
Our AC had some error. It started when it wanted 🤷‍♀️ and usually middle of night. And turning off didn’t help, it turns on again.

Beach was so beautiful, but lot of trash in there 😢 there are beach cleaners but still lot of trash in the water (it’s not hotel fault). We didn’t want to swim there. But sun beds and everything else was good!

Breakfast was really good! Lot of options.

Stuff is very friendly and helpful. We felt very welcome there ☺️

Also go and visit their roof bar!

We enjoyed our stay here overall. We had a beach bungalow that had a wonderful ocean view. The grass area outside was well kept and the hotel groundsmen clearly took pride in their work.
Breakfast was more than adequate. There was an egg station, hot buffet with an Asian choice and some pastries too.
The ladies that worked the reception desk were very friendly, helpful and efficient. However, some of the other staff could have been a little friendlier.
The hotel is starting to look a little tired and would benefit from a refurb. However, this didn’t spoil our stay.
The location is excellent with some shops, bars and restaurants a short walk away. There are also a number of beach bars that can be reached with a wander along the shore.
There was nothing that would prevent us from returning.

We enjoyed out time at this resort. The property felt a little run down and tired, but it was clean and safe. There often weren't enough chairs around the pool, but the staff did eventually bring more up from the beachfront area. We didn't not experience any sandfleas (at the resort or elsewhere on the island). It was easy and affordable to rent a scooter at the resort.
