Dar chick yahia in Mezrane

Stayed in Dar Chick Yahia for 2 nights during a 2 week solo roadtrip around Tunisia.

The house is beautiful, comfortable and an outstanding place to relax and wind down after the day.

Location is on an "isolated" part of the island which adds to the experience. A car is 100% recommended as it is not easily accesible by public transportation.

A nice beach is walking distance to relax in the morning.

Highly recommended.

Basically We wanted to visit Djerba but at the same time staying in those postal card sunsets and peace. This place has it all! with all the amenities and luxury of Tunisian made houses. You wont be disappointed. It is a little piece of paradise. Manuel the Host is so nice and well informed on where to go. Need a car? Need a bike? Spot to visit? To eat? He knows it all way below market price and often free!

Manuel and his wife provide some of the best service I have experience through my vast travels. From the very beginning up until the moment we got into the taxi to leave, Manuel made sure we had everything we needed and more. The location is in the middle of nowhere but taxis from and too are so cheap that you really don't need to rent a car (on average we paid 10 dinar (3€) per ride. If you're looking for the best sunset on the island, this is the spot, absolutely breathtaking from the rooftop. You can also catch a great sunrise if you're up for it. The beach is about an 8 minute walk but it's amazing calm and with exception of some local crab fishermen very secluded. It's a great spot for bird watching fans too. We saw lots of birds and got lucky enough to see a flamingo fly by, very majestically. Manuel is a very lucky guy, because his wife's cooking is absolutely amazing, I highly recommend booking a spot for dinner. If you're looming for a quite and calm get away this is a must.

A little corner of paradise.
There are rare places out of time. The magnificent little hotel of Dar Chick Yahia is one of them.
An unusual place in this world often lost in mass tourism.
Here everything invites you to rest and relax. A stone's throw from a wild beach, so much so that we often had the impression that it was reserved for us. For swimming and even more so for swimmers, the small bay just in front of the hotel is a huge and exceptional natural swimming pool.
The building is built in a superb typical Djerbian style. Comfort and cleanliness are at the rendezvous.
All of Djerba is accessible from this majestic place.
But all of this would be nothing if it weren't enhanced by Manuel and Sofia, such warm hosts.
Manuel constantly (but with discretion) watches over our well-being. Need advice or a (real) good plan? Manual is here! And everything is square (it's becoming so rare).
But for the picture to be fair and complete, we must also talk about Sofia. Besides his kindness, his cooking is divine. What a joy to have chosen half board. Each dinner has become an expected appointment. A family kitchen full of finesse and flavors that many chefs would be entitled to envy!
A rare hotel/guest house with comfort and modernity but all in simplicity.

I found what I was looking for, a wonderful, quiet place, far from mass tourism, here thanks to Manuel and his family you feel the human contact and live a unique experience in a hotel, for many perhaps spartan, but which instead puts you at your own pace. ease. Unforgettable stay in a little corner of paradise.

Manuel and Sophia are exceptional, charming and exciting hosts. Manuel always has good advice to give and good addresses to share. As for Sophia, she is an outstanding cook. His refined dishes awaken the taste buds.
The rooms are beautiful and spacious and the swimming pool very pleasant. It is good to relax on the patio.
It is an essential address, in the south of the island, for travelers in search of tranquility.

Perfect place for a relaxing stay away from the crowds.
The house is beautiful and located far away from the masses of tourists. It is quiet and quaint and you'll get the beach for yourself. We stayed in a family room that was VERY spacious, clean, well air conditioned. The bathroom with shower is totally adequate. The pool is the best way to spend the hot days. The owner is very welcoming and pleasant (speaks French and a little Arabic, not much English) and super helpful. He even drove us to a nearby restaurant on our first night as we didn't know the area and were quite tired. Breakfast is served in the house and is adequate (don't hesitate to ask for more if necessary). Only "downside" is that it is far from everything so you will need a car to find places for lunch and dinner. The owner has some good recommendations. My own favourite is a little restaurant called Restaurant Salem in Ajim (less than 10 minutes drive) which has delicious food for a very reasonable price. On the plus side if you like animals, you'll get to meet the 2 house cats and the super friendly and playful Vic... Totally recommend this place. We had a great time there.
