It is always difficult to chose a hotel in a city you don't know, especially when you as we, don't want the mainstream hotels you can find anywhere in the world. When traveling my wife and I are determined to find local hotels that reflects the national customs, design and atmosphere. But no matter how much research you do, you are never really quite sure when selecting a hotel. You can read comments from other users on the various travel search engines but the comments often vary from "Love this place to the worst ever" about the same place. One further criteria is that the room must have a terrace, balcony or a garden, which limits the number of choices. Unfortunately TripAdvisor has still not implemented this as a part of the filter, but many hotel search engines do... After many many emails forth and back to hotels that claim to have a balcony or a terrace, but where this was just a part of the hotel and not the room, we found this smal hotel in the heart of Kiev. Room 201 is a small suite with a beautiful terrace overlooking the courtyard. The room itself is very well decorated and totally renovated.. A four poster bed and a beautiful bathtub at each end of the room makes this design hotel room very special. The separate bathroom is equipped with white English tiles and matching sanitary and a walkin rainshower that makes the room perfect. The colors of the room is well thought through to give the room the right ambiance. Breakfast is served in the terrace restaurant on the 4th floor overlooking the quiet courtyard or in the hill side garden with a small waterfall.

Very nice hotel
It's a very nice hotel right next to Andryinvski descent. The hotel is shining clean, the staff is friendly. Its located within a short walk both from Podil entertainment district and the sights of the city center. Highly recommended

Grande historic hotel in the center of old town Kyiv lined with ancient cobblestone streets. This place has loads of charm - they still provide brass keys! Service is friendly and professional. Rooms are impeccably clean. Highly recommended.

The hotel is nice. Very good air-con and shower. I was during very hot times and it came really handy. Comfy bed, good Internet connection. The room is relatively small, so there was no desk to work at. And this loacation is pretty tough to come to for the locals. Parking in this area is an absolute chaos. This becomes important if you have business meetings arranged.

Very good hotel. Location is awesome and convenient to everything best Kyiv has to offer. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Rooms are new, modernly designed and very clean. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to explore Kyiv.

Nice newly refurbished hotel with friendly staff. The room is quite small, OK for one person, but for 2 people with bags there was no where to store anything.

Water was complimentary the first night, but you had to pay for it after that. Kettle and Tea bags in the room, but no coffee and no water unless you provide your own.

We ate breakfast the first morning but was disappointed with the sausage that was not very well cooked.

Overall it was OK and probably great for single travelers
