The staff was very friendly even though we had communication problems as I don't speak ukrainian/russian yet.
Defenitely recommend for travellers on a budget without high standards
If you want a hostel which has secret bathrooms and toilets, which are only accessible for certain guests book here.
If you want a hostel which has guests that just stare at you and make you feel uncomfortable book here.
If you want a hostel where it feels like you are in a young detention centre, and being monitored then book here.
If you want to stay in a room in the basement, where a sensor is used to switch the light on in the corridor every time someone walks down it, and due to lack of curtains or blinds the light shines bright into the room and wakes you up multiple times a night book here.
If you want to stay in a hostel where the other guests are more than happy to have quite loud conversations in rooms at 2am then book here.
If you want a hostel where guests have to ring the doorbell at 5am to get back into the hostel, even though there is a curfew then book here.

The minuses: the bathroom situation is quite limited with only a few toilets/ showers per floor, I had about a 50:50 rate of success getting to one when I needed it. As other reviewers have noted, the staff can be quite moody, though overall I found them fine. No issues with hostel noise, although traffic if the window is left open. Not too bad with heat, although no air-con or fan.
The pluses: could do laundry for a fee (though instruction/ explanation really wasn't clear, cheap and easy to get into town with - lots of bus connections available. Big plus - 24 hour supermarket with good prices right next door. 24 hour reception and staff-controlled entry so felt relatively safe. Wi-Fi all fine.
Kiev Central Station hostel has a much better staff and environment. I only came to Pallet because Central was fully booked at the time.
Didn’t extend my stay either.
But toilets and shower room needs improvement.
