Lakeside Guest House in Oxford

We stayed at this hotel for two nights from 31 March. On first impression on arrival it looked really nice from the outside. We were given room 2 which was on the first floor. On entering the room we were really surprised how tiny the room was, it was very compact. It was nicely decorated and the bathroom was clean but again very small. There wasn't much room to sit on the toilet, thankfully I am only 5ft 1" but would be uncomfortable for someone taller which was my partners issue. The room had towels but we were only given one hand towel between us and no soap so we had to use the shower gel. There was a tray which had a few teabags etc but not enough so we had to request more. It was a very peaceful room as we were situated at the back of the house so all you could hear were the birds which was lovely but due to the room being very small we felt very cooped up and uncomfortable. I am usually quite positive in my reviews but on this occasion we both agreed that we couldn't wait to leave. The reason for this was that the hotel boiler was in our room so from 6:15am on both mornings we were woken up to the boiler rumbling away, it was awful, it was just continuous. It lasted 30 minutes, went off and then back on again. We couldn't relax at all so in the end we had to get up but we couldn't put the TV on as the WiFi wasn't working so we decided to just get ready and check out much earlier than expected. We really felt exhausted and it did spoil our stay in Oxford. That boiler should not be in a hotel room. I would like to think that the other rooms at this hotel are much nicer but my review of the room we stayed in was that it was extremely small and should only be single occupancy but only if the boiler was placed elsewhere in the building as it was way too noisy for a guests bedroom.
