Location was ok, that's about all this place has going for it. The shower cubicle is tiny, the shower door keeps coming off it's runner. The room is also small, the building is old and tired looking. Parking is difficult, not enough parks to go around. Stairs are small and creaky. It looks as if everything was done on the cheap, just to get customers. Would never recommend nor would we stay here again. Very disappointing.

Booked a room to find out at check in that I had booked 6 months in advance. I was told to book another room and claim a refund on the wrongly booked room. After I booked the second room I then received an email saying that I could not get a refund because I booked a none refundable room. I feel like I have been scammed. TV remote didn't work, soap dispensers didn't work, given wrong combination for key box.

Would definitely stay again. Friendly, welcoming staff, parking and breakfast a bonus, very good value for money.

I was disappointed with the condition, comfort and cleanliness of my room. I complained so got moved to a slightly nicer room with a much better bed. I was grateful the owner accommodated me. However I won’t stay there

The location is good - close to shops and restaurants in Summertown. Check in was easy with clear instructions for key pick up. The sheets, towels and main areas in the room were clean but other areas were dirty or in need of attention (e.g. the doors to the room and ensuite were dirty and marked, the wallpaper was peeling, there were stains on the stool by the dressing table and on the base of the bed, and the runner for the shower doors needed to be cleaned). It was quite warm during my stay so the fan provided was appreciated. The shower pressure was good with plenty of hot water. Adding a hook in the bathroom would be helpful as there was nowhere to hang towels.

Awful
Shared bathroom despite booking saying private bathroom. Hotel would do nothing about it, nor would **********. Blind broken in skylight so woken at 6am. Sink in room that you can’t really get to. Pillow had the largest lump in I’ve ever seen. Worst value for money of any place I’ve ever stayed.

It's been a while since I last ate their food as they don't deliver so I had to drive there (parking can be tricky). Their garlic and pepper chicken wings are excellent as ever (think these are my favourite of all the Oxford takeaways, they even cut the corner of the box to keep takeaways crisp on the journey home). Chow Meins are still excellent as was their Kung Po Chicken. Only disappointment was the "Beef with aubergines in black bean sauce". This was my wife's favourite but they seem to have changed the recipe - none of us like this one at all. Still gave it 4 stars as the rest was excellent. I've added photos of the menu as they don't have an online version

Been going here of and on from the age of 20ish must have changed hands and the decor keeps improving. Still the best take away or eat in Chinese in Summertown.

I've bought food from here for many years. Consistently good service, but I wish they accepted card payments, and had an online presence for ordering, or even just a menu. Take cash, and if driving, be prepared to take the risk of parking between the row of shops and terraced housing. Technically you shouldn't but I have never been nobbled for doing so

The rules for entering this pub are more strict than those for entering the country. Even if you have a valid ID recognised by the EU, they will tell you a international passport (or English driving licence...) is required. Rules are made law, and reason unreasonable. Well at least we finely understand why brexit happened.

Of all the pubs in Summertown, this is all the pubs in Summertown. That said though, they seem to try pretty hard and you know what? They succeed!
Can I just say, on a personal note that hopefully does not void my terms of service, that I really like the framed posters of old pulp magazine covers that they have up here. It's really fun and it's those little touches that make the place so much of all of it that it is.
