Brilliant stay, room upgraded and breakfast was included which I didn’t realise.  Helpful staff, lovely clean hotel.  Bus stop 5 minutes walk away, buses are regular to the city centre (approx 15 minutes away).

Room was lovely. Very comfortable and clean had lovely 3 course meal but breakfast wasn’t the best mainly ordered poached eggs came more like boiled eggs rock hard .

They upgraded me from standard room to premium room, so it was very spacious , very clean, service very friendly.

The hotel is a bit far from the city center, and the road leading there was closed for construction. We had to take a detour, so it's essential to use a navigation app with real-time traffic updates, otherwise, you'll have a tough time. The front desk staff, however, was very welcoming and attentive.

Honestly, this hotel offers incredible value for money. If you're looking for a hotel near Oxford train station, this is the one to choose. It's my favorite out of the four hotels I stayed at in the UK.

Easy check in , room was clean and comfortable, breakfast had good choice, hotel is situated close to railway station

Facilities: Basic amenities are all there, but you'll need to ask the front desk for a toothbrush. Environment: Located by a small river, the surroundings are elegant and it's very close to the city center. Hygiene: Very clean. Service: The front desk staff can answer most questions and they also offer a taxi booking service.

Beautiful hotel with a great location for visiting Oxford. Breakfast service was very good and the pool enjoyable and not too busy. £25 for parking is disappointing.

Excellent location, a lovely walk into the town centre which means you can enjoy the beautiful city without the hassle of trying to park and avoid the new congestion charge. Beds are really comfy and rooms are really quiet. We used to always stay at the Randolph but Voco is just miles better value for money and quieter.

The view from the room was beautiful. It felt like time was moving slowly, and I felt really refreshed. I’d love to stay here again.

Very impressed with the hotel and room. Very clean and one of the most comfortable night’s sleep I’ve had in a hotel in a while. Staff very friendly.The breakfast was very good so much choices and super tasty. The only thing I guess is the parking fee a bit on the higher side. The hotel is very unique, it was converted from a prison. I didn't know why some of the room doors had names + years on them before, I only found out after asking. The suite I booked is underground, the experience is very novel, and there is also a separate entertainment room. I like this separate entertainment room so much, it's great! Oxford is really full of history, every place has a history.

The whole experience from start to finish was fantastic!!! The staff were so polite and helpful, the room was wonderful and the meal in the restaurant was amazing. The prison hotel has a feeling of class and luxury and then a beautiful contradiction that it used to be the home of naughty prisoners - we have nothing negative to say just going home with fond memories and some wonderful pictures!!!

It is comfortable and quiet. It's quite near the town centre and the university, there's a college right next to it. But it is far from the railway station, it took us 27mins walk to/from the railway station. Travel light if you choose here. But  not to be too worry, lots of people pulling their luggages going about to reach their hotels or railway station, and the road/street pavement is even and...

It doesn't deserve five stars; it's just at the level of a budget hotel.

The room was clean and tidy, and the big bed was comfortable. However, the sound insulation on the upper floors was very poor, and it felt like the bottom of the building was about to fall.

The location is excellent, right on High Street, opposite St. Mary's Cathedral; the room is newly renovated, the layout is pleasing to the eye, and the bedding is comfortable; the service is warm and thoughtful, and there is a small backyard with free parking. Recommended!

Everything was excellent except the location unless you have a car.

The setting is lovely, located about a 10-15 minute drive from the city center. For those on a self-driving trip, the free parking is a huge convenience. Opening the room door, you're greeted with a garden view, and both the bathroom and the bed were spotless.

While the location is a bit remote, the setting is beautiful, perfect for a relaxing getaway.

Objectively a nice hotel but it’s £400 a night. And for rooms this size and zero facilities, you don’t pay that in many cities anywhere in the world. Pluses - parking with car charging. It was a wonderful hotel, with everything I was satisfied with. Being an older building, it did have some shortcomings in terms of soundproofing, but it was a hotel I would return to again.

We had a lovely stay. The staff were incredible helpful with food abd transport recommendations. The decor is fun and the room was clean and comfortable. The weather wasn't great so we didnt use it, but the outside space looked lovely. Parking is a bonus, we parked and got the bus in to town, far cheaper and easier than parking in town! Cool hotel even if loud at times This is a gorgeous hotel with plenty of character and a decent location in the North of Oxford, near shops and eateries. As it is a quirky old building, you do hear the footsteps shuffling of your upstairs neighbours, but I would return if ever in town again.

We stayed at the Galaxie Hotel in Oxford as a family and had a very good experience. When a crib for our baby wasn’t available, the staff immediately upgraded us to a larger room to make our stay more comfortable. This thoughtful gesture really made a difference for us. As part of our wedding celebration we decided to stay at this hotel and we couldn’t have been happier. We ended up with a wonderful bedroom with an amazing bathroom and a private garden. So much attention and details went into this and I am so grateful for the manager Fernando and the team there. Everything was perfect and it made our wedding day even better.

Good location, historic building but a bit pricy for the facility

This was a great hotel for a stay in central Oxford. I prefer to walk when possible and this was perfect for seeing everything I wanted. The main colleges, the library, and restaurants were all easily walkable. The room was small as expected (single room), but well appointed with everything I needed. The bathroom and shower were extremely nice! Loved my stay here.

We had a fabulous stay at Head of the river. We stayed in the hotel for food which was excellent value and great service. There was a selection of pastries, cereals and fruit for breakfast along with hot food which could be ordered. We stayed in a family room which was well appointed. First and foremost, the hotel has lovely staff. Very helpful and very pleasant. Our room ovetlooked the river and wasvery comfortable with robes, nice Bramley toiletries, a good bed, a nespresso coffee machine and stocked fridge.

We stayed for 2 nights in a private room with 4 beds. The location is perfect, very close to the city center (5 min walk). The staff are friendly and helpful and the price is ok. However, our room smelled bad from the bathroom and the cleaning could have been a bit better. But over all, well worth it and we could come back.

Clean, though musty smelling. Unseasonably warm temps made the room quite warm. The self catering kitchen was very convenient. The purchased breakfast was plentiful and well prepared. Definitely recommend the breakfast if you're setting out for the day.

I love this hotel very much. It is small and exquisite. It is renovated from an old house, but it is very comfortable to live in. The room is larger than expected and has complete facilities. This was a great hotel. The room and bed were huge. Everything was spotless. We travelled by public transport and the hotel was about a 20 minute walk from the station. Although the hotel is not right in the centre, it is only a few minutes from the Head of the River pub and 10 minutes from the Westgate centre. The area is beautiful and very quiet

The room offered a view of the countryside, and an elderly lady worked at the front desk. There was a small yard with parking available, which was quite convenient for those driving. We had a family room for 3 adults great size. Very clean, tea & coffee on tap and we were visited by the mince pie & chocolate fairy. (It's the littke things that matter) the beds were very comfy.
