I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel during my trip to Edinburgh. The location was very convenient, making it easy to explore the city and access public transport, restaurants, and many of the main attractions. It felt like a great base for sightseeing while still being comfortable and relaxed.

The staff were welcoming and friendly throughout my stay. From check-in to check-out, they were helpful, professional, and always willing to answer questions or offer recommendations for places to visit around the city.

The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Everything worked as expected and the overall atmosphere of the hotel felt warm and inviting. Service was efficient, and it was clear that the staff genuinely cared about making guests feel comfortable.

Overall, I had a positive experience and would happily stay here again on a future visit to Edinburgh. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay with a convenient location and friendly service.

The room was cozy and warm with a large window and window seat. Premium toiletries, lotion, soap, shampoo and conditioner. Lovely updated bathroom. Steps from the bus line and many restaurants within 2 blocks. Staff was friendly and offered suggestions about where to eat and find live music. Safe neighborhood setting. Mother and daughter traveling together. Excellent coffee and very nice breakfast buffet.

Signal on TV was awful.
Main radiator didn't work so we used the small portable radiator in the wardrobe.
Room was very clean and comfy, staff courteous and knowledgeable re bus routes and timetables. Parking available on hotel front.
Overall, a very enjoyable stay at a nice, intimate hotel.

We had an excellent overnight stay here in Sept 2022. As we were due to attend another concert at the Queen's Hall, we thought we would stay again.
We subsequently booked a superior room for this occasion, in Oct 2025. We arrived mid-afternoon and were greeted by a charming person who was friendly, helpful but casually dressed, unlike the uniformed staff in other 4-star hotels.
We were directed to our room, the Calton, in the basement. Initial impression was the room and bathroom were clean and tidy. My husband went to hang something in the wardrobe but it was full of heaters and electric fans. There was no room to hang clothes.
We went out and didn't return until 10.30pm using the keycard to let us into the building as no staff are present after 8pm.
As I pulled back the bedclothes, I noticed what I initially thought was a water mark on the sheet. On closer inspection the sheet was clean but the mark was on the mattress topper underneath. I did not investigate further at this point as it had been a long day so I covered the marked area with a pillow.
In the morning, I investigated further, the mattress topper had a dried blood stain, dark red, purple colour, about 5 cm by 3 cm. I was horrified. I spoke to a different receptionist, told him of my disgust and that this was totally unacceptable in any hotel. He did not apologise on behalf of the hotel or in any way engage with the issue nor my concerns. He was less than interested. The stains were totally unacceptable and

Cute little boutique hotel with quick access to old town and Waverley Railway Station. Just what I needed for a quick 1 night stay. The reception was very helpful too!

My order was over an hour late, wrong and cold. They have your number and email address but fail to keep you up to date. Their number rings out so we had already arranged other food by the time they delivered. My official complaint to Pizza Hut was met with a stock response and I was unable to take it further via the link in their email. I believe they do offer a £10 voucher for late orders but apparently not to me.

Always makes me sad to leave a poor review - but after many orders for work events, I have to conclude that the staff are just incompetent or don't care whatsoever. We've never had an order a.) be delivered on time or b.) contain what we ordered via the online portal. How hard can it be guys?

JUST AVOID!!!!
I placed an order for a pizza and a Ben & Jerry's ice-cream (4.99£) yesterday afternoon (27.8.17). After an hour and a half a very rude driver delivered a cold pizza and a melted ice-cream. Before this delivery he phoned me three times to ask about my address, as obviously he had a wrong one, and then he demanded from me to walk where he had parked - half a mile from my flat- to get the pizza!! After my refusal, he finally arrived with the melted to milk ice-cream and the cold pizza! I returned the ice-cream back (far too hungry to return the pizza), calling at the same time to the store explaining the situation. The man on the phone apologized and offered to send me a new Ben & Jerry's ice-cream. After 28 hours and 4 phone calls later, I am still waiting for this bloody ice-cream! Staff on the phone was really rude, the driver was rude, they claimed no proof of my delivery/orders/phone calls etc. as they are totally unorganized! It is just your word against theirs!!! AND THEN THEY LIE ABOUT SENDING IT TO ME!!!! DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN!!

Appalling service, delivery person was so rude, saying cannot wait even for 2 min for me to get to the gate from my apartment. The managers support this behaviour and have no decency to apologise. I will never ever go there!

The waitress was really sweet. I recommend the express lunch menu, where you can get their authentic Italian food at a great price. I had the ham and mushroom risotto, which was pretty good. There’s a variety of pizzas, pastas, etc. to try. They also have a good minestrone soup.

Booked in at last minute and accommodated well. Meal was delicious but when it came to paying, I wanted to pay this at the till as I wanted no fuss at the table from my family. The Head of restaurant/owner was very rude to waitress then to me insisting I go back to my table. Granted it was a busy night but no excuse for treating a paying customer this way. Felt like I was a naughty child when all I wanted to do is pay the bill. I am a woman of a certain age and did not appreciate being treated like this. I did write to them but 1 week on I have had no apology. 2 WEEKS ON AND STILL NO RESPONSE TO MY LETTER. HOW RUDE.

super friendly and helpful- made a big effort to provide a good service.
A beautiful tasting vegetable korma made it all the more frustrating that it was so spicey I still couldn't eat it even after they really went out of their way to satisfy. I hope it's not my fault and that my pallate is too sensitive. Thanks for trying guys!

Yummy one of my group that got food from here said best they had in over thirty years . Not just your run of the mill there style of cooking give slightly diffrent tastes making the food really nice and enjoyable leaving you wanting to go back to try more

I don't really understand how you can mess up take away, but these guys managed to do it. I asked for utensils and they said they were in the bag - but they weren't. I asked for naan bread - but they gave me rice instead. Didn't want to accept my credit card because their machine was "broken". Since I had no cash on me I decided to cancel my order - and "magically" their credit card system system starts working again. Really now? They were also super slow - all in all just the worst service ever.

Good place for a take away. Order ahead online and have your food waiting, or for a small fee delivered. Enormous portions and good quality Scottish Indian. The place is pretty much a hole in the wall so don't expect a world changing culinary experience.

It has very authentic and good quality Indian food and if you ask them to make it spicy, it gives you real Indian feel. The ambience is nice but good serving takes time. It is good for take away your food or get it delivered. My favourite is paneer kofta ?
