I stayed here for one night. Was able to change my check in time with no difficulty at all. When I arrived I was greeted by a friendly receptionist and given keys to my room... there is someone on the front desk 24 hrs a day, this was very good for me especially as I needed to check out at 4am. Checking out was very simple, I just had to give keys back to desk. The room was very clean and had all the necessities, at the price of the rooms I was extremely happy with my stay and will be staying here again in the future!!

For the price paid this hotel absolutely suited our needs, the facilities worked, the staff were helpful and friendly and it was well placed for our visit. Do not stay here expecting a 5 star hotel, you are not paying 5 star prices and it is not that… it is however a very good standard for the money you are paying. The room was cleaned daily which I would not expect at all for the price point and our length of stay. The room had a kettle with and tea coffee making facilities, some toiletries were also included on arrival. Something to note is that there are no lifts here and you may have to climb stairs to get to your accommodation. This is advertised so I cannot understand why we heard complaining customers while we were there.

Great value for money. We staid 6 days to visit friends in Glasgow. Family room was clean, beds comfy. Staff very friendly. Perfect location in Glasgow West End. Close to restaurants, bars and the Botanic Garden. Can be a bit noisy at night, but no complaints….

Room immaculate and spacious considering it was a small double. Bathroom in good order but some of the tiles In shower could do with re grouting. Bed very comfortable and sheets etc spotlessly clean and crisp. Room warm as central heating very effective! Reception staff very informative on arrival. Although continental breakfast provided we preferred just tea in our room. Plenty tea, coffee and milk provided. Only low point was the noise from the Oran Mor club! Think I would ask for a rear room if returning.

Good value Victorian hotel in the fantastic location of Glasgow's West End. My small double room had everything I needed for an overnight but I would have happily stayed longer. Room was clean and had big windows so it was bright and at the back of the hotel which meant it was quiet. Bed was very comfy, room was properly heated, wifi was strong, I had a bath but there was an electric shower as well with toiletries provided, TV, kettle and an open plan type wardrobe to hang and store clothes. There was a desk and chair if you needed to work and plenty plug points. Staff were lovely and friendly. Luckily for me my room (20) was on the ground floor so I didn't need to lug all my stuff upstairs but I believe there isn't a lift which may be a consideration if you had mobility issues. The bus stop to the city centre is right outside the hotel but there are lots of shops, supermarkets and restaurants around Byres Rd. Would recommend this hotel but be realistic about it considering it's a bit old fashioned in places but great for the price and the location. The receptionist told me they were renovating floor by floor so perhaps the prices will rise but the rooms will be smarter. I'll be back to find out!

We stayed at the Clifton a few years ago and embraced its quirkiness, e.g. uneven floorboards and old-fashioned features. We especially loved the room with the corner bath, so we booked again recently with this in mind. Unfortunately, this hotel is no longer just quirky. No effort appears to have been made to carry out simple maintenance and repairs. The bath couldn't be used as there was no plug. Even if we'd requested a bath plug, the filthy shower curtain (jammed closed on a flimsy piece of bare wood), would have been in the way. Floor and wall tiles were cracked, with some missing completely, and bedroom windows were unsealed. This hotel can no longer be classed as being in a quiet area, as the shouting from outside a bar opposite (on a Tuesday and Wednesday night) went on until after 4am. The smell of ********* as we walked back into reception last night was also interesting.

The hotel is fine, old fashioned but that’s okay, rooms well laid out and housekeeping check in daily. No breakfast available. The bathroom was a bit musty with mould evident. A requirement to leave room keys at reception when you pop out which is very odd . Staff nice and it’s a reasonable base for a couple nights.

We stayed here on Tuesday night go attend a concert. The building is beautiful and really well situated for food and pubs. Check in was straightforward and we found our room which was beautiful it had a 4 poster bed and dark furniture with huge windows. The room was lovely and warm and really clean. We were asked to hand our key in to reception when we left the hotel to make sure we didn't lose the key which I was a bit dubious about but it was fine. Bed was comfy and we both slept really well. The one thing I would say is the coffee sachets in the room weren't up to much I think they'd been there a while so it may be worth changing those but overall a fabulous stay and we'd definitely stay again.

Location - A short stroll from the underground, plenty of restaurants & takeaways within 5/10 mins walk. A nice pub 5 mins away.
The hotel itself was lovely & warm we turned the radiator off. Outside traffic could prove noisy for some if situated on a front facing room. It wasn't a problem for us. The beds are very soft. Not to our liking, depends on your preference. Shower nice & hot and clean. Rooms clean although small but we didn't mind. We had a double room. Hotel staff nice & friendly. Secure front door on a buzzer in the evening opened by the night porter quickly. We will stay here again

A fantastic hotel with helpful friendly staff. We had a lovely stay here for one night. Our room was luxurious, clean and spacious, with a complete on suite and a massive bath. Lovely high ceilings and windows. The bed was huge and pretty comfy.
It's right in the city, not far from tje gardens which is lovely. But it was a bit noisy at night on a Friday, we had to fetch our ear plugs. Other than the noise, a great stay. I would go again and recommend it for sure!
Staff were fantastic and made us feel so welcome.

Don’t go, food came out in what looked like dog bowl, 6 slices of meat, cooked to varying degrees, buried under burnt chips, rubber prawns, some tomatoes and cress,, totally disappointed.

Absolutely outstanding Chateaubriand. We had been gifted a voucher and it turned out to be one of the best meals we have ever had. I will look out for future vouchers, but at 60 quid I'm not sure I'd pay that if it weren't on a deal.

Absolutely dry filet, dry fries, overpriced, slow service. All in all, don't visit this place.

Staff were quite good though they tried to seat us in a booth that was clearly too small for our group. Food was great but could have been served more quickly. A nice venue but a little over priced for what you get.
25.08.2017 Rob
Nice establishment, good decor etc. However, like many have noted - the pricing is very high and not really with any reflection on the quality of the food.

For example, the fillet steak is £30 which comes with 2 sides. The steak that arrived was miniscule, supposedly and advertised as 8oz, there is no way on earth it was that size of steak. I'm pretty well versed on steak, it's something I order frequently, and I can categorically say this was well underweight, as was the one on my co-diner's plate. I understand the argument of 'pre-cooked weight' being used, but in this instance it simply doesn't 'weigh-in'.

One of the sides was 'seasonal vegetables'; these were extra as you only get 2 with your main (so, fries and salad = 2 sides) - what arrived was laughable - 5-6 limp green beans, 4 pieces of carrot chunks and a tiny head of cauliflower - all your's for £3!

Service was mediocre also - had a significant issue with getting served/bill etc - it wasn't even that busy.

Plenty of other steak restaurants in Glasgow - go there.

Tucked away off Byres Road, this is a refreshingly nice place to visit, with a relaxing atmosphere, quiet ambient music and nicely appointed seating with both booths and lounge style seating. Food and drink options are really good, and the quality is excellent and well priced.

What makes it even better, it is one of the few coffee shops in the area that is dog friendly!

First time being here and it was absolutely lovely. The interior of the building was beautiful. They have lots of seating choices up and downstairs. The prices are reasonable and the staff are really nice. They accept card payments which is handy. Good drink selection. All round great experience, will definitely return.

Very nice place. However we had a one bad meal, which was replaced and partially refunded. Everything else was superb.

Four of us booked in and had three course meal. All good was excellent apart from the pork belly, which was the worst pork belly i have ever had (too much fat, it wasn't cooked properly and the accompanying sweet potato thing was very dense and tasted like it was reheated). I explained to waitress and manager and it was replaced quickly enough with the chicken which was amazing. 10% was taken off food bill. All in all it was a great night.

Bit of a hipster bar but I would give this place 4 stars for casual midweek drinks, or somewhere to go on a date during the week. Have had food there before as well and it was quite nice. During Friday/Saturday night however the service can be slow since the bar do cocktails (some of which seem to take forever!). You probably won't recognise any of the music the DJ plays either. On the plus side, it does have a ping pong table though!

Excellent service, great food and very pleasant staff (in particular Johanna). We’ll definitely be back soon.

The food, speed and service is quite alright considering the great size of the venue. Prices are acceptable given the quality of the food that is also well presented. Zizzi is excellent for bigger groups.

Very nice and modern place, we arrived without reservation and it was tables enough..is quite big place. The calzzone with spinach and chicken was amazing, one of the best calzzone that I never tried. Highly recommend
