Laguna Cove Hotel in Laguna Beach

Locked out of room at 12:30 AM. Took on site manager 30 minutes to answer door. Walls paper thin. BUT, clean, great rate, great view. Would try another next time....

For the budget conscious, this is similar to a Motel 6: clean room with comfortable bed. We stayed in a room with two queen beds. The room had a TV, air conditioning, free WiFi, small fridge, tiny table with 2 wooden chairs. Free ice available. Just enough room to get past the beds to the bathroom. No closet, no dresser, and no place to put suitcases other than on floor. The bathroom had large vanity with 6 generous drawers. Privacy was an issue because of large floor to ceiling window of clear glass in bathroom overlooking rear service area. It was covered with a venetion blind that didnt reach either the top or bottom of window. On either side of bathroom were were rippled windows from waist to top of door, through which anyone in room could see you. Only other window was over table looking into the parking lot and street, which had heavy drapes. To ventilate the room using windows we had to open drapes and venetion blind, exposing entire unit, or close drapes and blind and use lights and air conditioning.

I really would’ve loved to give this place a 5 star but after my experience, I cannot. My family and I stayed at this hotel the same time last year and we had a pleasant experience. So, when we returned this year we were expecting the same thing. However, we were surprised by the lack of hospitality/service, cleanliness etc. When we showed up the service was perfectly fine. However, we got into our room and noticed that the floor was quite dirty to the point where we could tell it had no been swept or mopped since the last customer had used the room. Along with that, when we went to use the shower there was no hot water. We even left the shower running for a good amount of time, and it still was not working right. We called the front desk and in the morning maintenance took care of it. After this, we did not have any issues until the day we checked out of our room. We were thankful that we got to leave our luggage at the front desk of the hotel however, when we came back to retrieve our luggage, my grandmother needed to use the restroom. The lady at the front office refused to let her use the restroom and told us that we would need to find an alternative place across the street. After not finding a public restroom nearby, we came back to ask again thinking that since we were PAYING customers at their hotel for MULTIPLE nights that they would have some resolution to help us. The lady at the front desk was not kind and had no sense of hospitality and was the least bit helpful. She claimed that she would get in trouble by her boss if anyone used the restroom in the office area and claimed that all of the rooms were being used or checked into early (it was 1pm at the time.) After seeing that our room was just being cleaned (the door was open), we finally convinced her to let my grandmother use the restroom in the room we had just stayed the night in. She left us with a snarky remark as our “goodbye” and refused to give her name when I asked to say thank you.
All in all, with mine and my family’s experiences this time, I do not recommend the seaside inn any longer.

This is response to your response to my wife's review of your motel on Monday, October 3 in room 107. There was no need to nickel and dime your guests. Charging $35, even though it's your policy, when the place was almost vacant is PETTY. I read some of the other reviews where you wouldn't let a grandmother use the restroom. Jeez, I am embarrassed for you. How could we report the leaky and loud refrigerator when the office was closed early? What is your excuse for the dirty floors and overall unkempt room? Office / coffee area not open until after 7:30. Again, who is on vacation, the motel or their guests? Don't bother responding with your condescending excuses...
