The Academy Hotel Colorado Springs in Colorado Springs

Great price. This hotel has everything! Pool, buffet, games, weight room, ping pong, hot tub... highly recommend

I would leave five stars for the staff of the hotel. The staff at Falcon restaurant were phenomenal. They were the friendliest and most welcoming group and always wore a smile every morning. The breakfast was a great set-up and we looked forward to sharing the larger tables with our extended family that stayed as well. The food was very good!

The pool is right in the middle of the lobby. Though it looks cool, there’s very limited amount of seating and it’s not a big area. The open ceilings and the flooring makes sound bounce off the walls and it gets really loud. The pool starts at 3 1/2 feet and goes up to 8 1/2 ft. If you have little children, consider bringing a puddle jumper. I wouldn’t say this is small kid friendly though. There are also four separate entrance ways and though the pool is warm, it gets really cold with the draft coming through.

The ping pong table and the foosball are in a small area through the pool area.

The lobby lounge area is more of a romantic setting. There’s a nice fireplace that I wish would stay lit more but it’s very, very low lighting all the time. So not the best place to hang out with a group.

The rooms seemed to be having a lot of issues. The first room we were in, the tub backed up immediately on first use. The maintenance worker, Don, was very nice and helpful with that situation but informed us that it wasn’t something that could be fixed immediately. That evening the boiler broke in the wing so many of us had to move rooms the next morning because there was no hot water.
The other room was a little more updated and there was hot water but the shower still backed up. It wasn’t something that was able to be fixed. Both rooms also smelled pretty weird.
The staff at the front desk was very helpful in getting us moved.

Again, the staff for this hotel is wonderful! They were all very friendly, kind, and attentive. The three stars comes from the issues related to the hotel itself. I think it’s super outdated and needs a lot of TLC.
