Princess Royale Oceanfront Resort

First of all the cleaning service is really good, however the front desk service has a lot to improve.
First, at the time that we checked in, we were not informed on absolutely any services that the facility has.
The hotel is a maze and the front desk did not have the respect to explain how to reach for instance to the beach.
The hotel charges a resort fee and the front seak has no understanding of what is that for since the hotel did not provide beach towels, chairs or umbrellas for the beach.

We really wanted to love this hotel. It's a great location, decent rooms with a pool inside. Everything was great until we went to lay down our toddler. I always check the beds and do a little shaking. When i did this time a bedbug immediately crawled out. I called downstairs to report it and let them know we were checking out. They brought up a luggage cart and the gentleman said we needed to leave the room and stood on the doorway. He was clearly frustrated with us. They did immediately refund us. We drove to a different hotel, I had all of our clothes sanitized on the dryer immediately.

We travel often 12 to 15 times on average per year. We understand that people bring bedbugs from their homes. We have found that staying in chain hotels or nicer hotels means there is a standard to treat and prevent other guests from getting impacted as well. This is not the case for this location.

My family and I visited last year for a weekend family getaway. I saw the reviews and hoped it would be great but it was far from it. The parking is very tight. Second, there weren't a lot of the luggage carts to help carry out stuff. When we went to check in, (FYI you pay a deposit before you arrive and then you are charged the full amount before you stay so take note) I didn't get a warm welcome or much needed information about food and amenities or anything. Quite disappointing. Then when we checked into our room, it was not as basic and I expected much more for the price we paid considering the pictures shown and there was a leak coming from the room above. It was small at first so we didn't mind it but towards the end of the next day it became major and I didn't even want us to stay anymore because the spa was available as we hoped when called to book and then we got sick from the food at the dining hall for breakfast. Sadly I was skeptical because I found a dead mouse outside the restaurant in the hallway and ran to the front desk to deal with it and it wasn't taken seriously until security did something. When we were ready to check out, note that we planned for 4 days and stay for one and a half, they front desk manager was very agitated and aggressive work my desire to leave and no reimbursement for the breakfast that made me sick. We got the refund for the nights we didn't stay but I felt more should have done. The pool area is clearly the main attraction and access to the beach but it was so crowded with different birthday and group events that regular guests don't really have time to enjoy it. Overall I wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends or family members looking to go to the eastern shore area.
