I’ve stayed here many times and I think it’s the best value in the Square. Rooms are immaculate and well-maintained. Beds are comfortable. Bathrooms are tiny and lack any surface to put your toiletries on but they are clean and everything works. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a very pleasant lobby where you can sit and work or read. There is free coffee in the lobby. There are great places to get breakfast nearby. Parking on site is convenient (but the spaces are TINY) and priced comparably to other lots, with the advantage that you can come and go for a flat fee. It is not luxurious and you’ll have more space and amenities at the nearby Charles Hotel if you want a more indulgent experience, but this hotel is almost always my preference because it has everything I need and I like its friendliness and value.

The location is perfect next to Harvard it made visiting my daughter very convenient even in the snow! The staff was top-notch and the rooms weee were nicely maintained ... I enjoyed the complimentary hot tea and coffee located in the lobby, but wish they had partnerships with local restaurants to deliver to hotel (leaving menus in the room to highlight recommendations for guests).

I really enjoyed the proximity to everything I needed. The customer service and ease of checking in and out is great. The rooms were very clean, they are smaller but fit what we needed. The room walls are thin, you can hear everything. However, I was ok with this as I wasn't in the room often.

Very well-designed hotel. My mattress was fabulously comfortable and I appreciated the adjustable desk chair. Each room has an iron, ironing board and hair dryer. And I appreciated the motion controlled night lights so guests do not trip when they get up in the middle of the night.
There's free tea, coffee, and hot chocolate in the first floor snack area with other treats for sale. The second floor has a vending machine with reasonable prices and an ice machine. Staff was always willing to address my concerns in a professional manner. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed here one night as we were going to a concert and did not want to drive home after. This is a cute, basic hotel that is in an amazing location. You really don’t need much in the hotel as you are right in Harvard Square surrounded by food and a short train ride to everything. The train is less than a minute walk from the hotel door. There is parking on site for an extra fee. The room was small but well appointed. It was in good condition minus some paint peeling on the wall by the shower from water. Our room had an open class shower. Everything was very clean and the bed was comfortable. I had a great sleep. I will say, the walls seem a bit thin, we had a connecting door in our room so could hear the neighbors a bit but it was quiet at night. Three of us stayed the night. If it were 4, the room would feel pretty small. I’d go for a bigger suite option in that case. It was great for 1 night or a weekend. The room felt more like a European size or NYC size hotel room. I would definitely stay again for a short trip. The picture I added is a view from the front of hotel overlooking Harvard Square.

I arrived at the hotel at 8am, and they kindly accommodated my early check-in. There was a drink bar next to the check-in counter, so I was able to relax and have a cup of coffee while I waited. I would definitely use this service again the next time I visit Harvard.

Nice store, close to Harvard University.

The hotel is in a great location, very convenient to Harvard University, but the facilities are a bit old.

Overall, I don’t recommend staying at this hotel. While the location is great, the hotel itself is less than desirable. Small rooms, outdated appearance and overall just not what a I consider a “boutique” hotel. Especially not worth the price. We had some not so great interactions with the front desk staff as well. Overall just not very friendly or accommodating. When we had our bags being held after check in, the staff member literally asked “where did they put it?” when we asked to receive them. Overall, just a disappointing stay and in my opinion a waste of money.

Great place for a leisurely weekend brunch. Friendly service, ample seating, and fantastic selection of favorite breakfast items. Our server was quite cheerful and eager to make changes requested.

Despite being very busy up front, they were able to order and grab my carryout in a very timely manner ?

Ew. Been to a lot of IHOPs, and this one is worse than most. Bad service, gross food. You're in Harvard Square, go somewhere cool.
21.09.2017 Morgaine
You guys I LOVE IHOP but these hours are TERRIBLE. What if I need 4am pancakes? What if I need to be up early and could really use some 6am pancakes? If y'all are gonna be open until 4am anyway, you might as well make it all night! Besides this, the service is great. I will be coming back.

Cozy place, but super busy. Our waitress mostly ignored us for 30m and was kind of rude. We had a light vegetarian dinner, which was well prepared. Pro tip: pounce on a table if you see one empty, don't wait for it to be cleared or you'll lose it.
29.10.2017 Alexander
Typical bar ambience. However, the chicken wings we ordered were dry and we only got them after we reminded the waitress as she had forgotten our order. The draft is quite good though but the cocktails are not more than standard

Simple review: I got the hummus platter and some beer which were both prompt despite a full house and outside. Very flavorful and perfect price point! 10/10 will go again!

First of all that 3.8 stars is hella generous! I came in with a small group of friends, all with realistic expectations on to enjoying a good lunch. We read a few reviews online and this seemed like a solid choice. We sat down and placed our order. The food came out pretty quickly, which was not surprising due to the restaurant being empty except for a few bar patrons. So say it as simple as possible, we all ordered different food, but all had something in common. There was absolutely no flavor. I was so disappointed. This was my first meal of the day due to missing breakfast and it wasn't pleasant at all. To top it off we expressed our concerns to our waitress who apologized but no member of management came to discuss the topic further with us. I just hope this feedback can inspire some change so this establishment can grow and make positive change.

It been while since I gone to Grendel but today I went to enjoy the outside seating and to enjoy their food. I had spinach pie but when I ate it something did not feel right. I found a huge piece of plastic that I took out of my mouth. I told the waiter who apologies but did not really do anything at all. When we got the bill they charged us for full price even when I did not eat all of it due t the plastic I found and not taking a chance their was more. They totally lost my business

Very good food and beer. The Personnel is very polite and the environment cozy and joyful. It is and will remain my favorite place for hanging out with good friends.
17.12.2017 Justin
Friendly staff, and great food. Portions are big, but not overly so. You probably won't have any leftovers to take home, especially since the food is so yummy it's hard to stop eating.
13.12.2017 Gabby
My favorite place to go in Boston. It's big enough to bring a lot of folks together and small enough to stop by after class to get some beer and watch some baseball. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. Plus, they have a gender-neutral restroom.
23.11.2017 David
Very good casual place. Good comfort food. Nice staff.

Good beer and food. Nice crowd. It might be a little loud sometimes.
