Residence Inn Downtown Manhattan/Financial District

Our family of four recently stayed here for two nights, and given the price, we had expected a bit more. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of even basic standards.

Upon arrival, we found only three towels for the four of us. When we tried to call for more, we realized the phone in the room wasn’t working. After a long day of travel, having to use our personal phones to locate the hotel’s contact information was inconvenient. To make matters worse, there was no soap in the shower, so we had to make yet another call and wait for assistance. The situation was frustrating and entirely avoidable.

The room’s layout added to our discomfort. The vents were positioned directly above the bed, blowing cold air on our necks all night, leaving us stiff and sore in the morning.

When we shared our concerns with the front desk at checkout, the response was indifferent, which only added to our disappointment.

In short, this hotel failed to provide the bare essentials—clean towels, basic toiletries, and a comfortable place to rest. We felt as though our money was wasted, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Rude staff, with no sense of customer service or making the experience friendly and pleasant, even when a platinum customer As a platinum elite Marriott customer I have stayed in many Marriott brands. While the hotel room was ok, I was near the elevator and asked to move. There was no effort made to accommodate even though I arrived early evening and we all know that clearly not all rooms were used. Even the simplest of requests are denied. The gift bag consisted of a bag of chips and 1 water bottle. When I asked to get a different brand of chips , they said this is what they gave out while I was looking straight at their tiny market where many chip options were available. You would have thought they could have made a change, especially after they could not accommodate the room change. A small gesture that would have been appreciated. The team needs training in customer care.

Do NOT stay here!! After entering the room, I immediately noticed long hair strands hair on the floor, dark marks on the room chair, and a substance on the bathroom counter. I would've called the front desk; however, the room phone was disconnected (intentionally I suspect). I went downstairs and the desk associate treated me as though I was fabricating the whole thing. Not until after I showed pictures did she offered to issue me a new room, but advised me that I had to get my things out of the other room first. After going upstairs to remove my belongings and coming back downstairs, I went up to the newly issued room #1503 (a non-city view/ handicap accessible room), just to see that this room had too, not been thoroughly cleaned and also did not have a working room phone (intentionally I suspect). I know that things do happen, however, having a clean room is one thing that business travelers should not have to be concerned with.

Upon returning to the hotel that evening, I spoke with the desk associate and he told me that he would escalate this matter to management, which has yet to happen. I keep getting blown off and no action or effort has been taken to make this right. VERY DISAPPOINTING!
