Reviews
The man who arranged my room booking almost profusely warned me about how the TV was out of order. I told him I did not care, I just needed a room to stay in. Of course, he willingly provided, since I obviously had the coin to spare. Sadly, I was not able to bathe, only shower, as needed. And, being unable to shower applied for both of my stays. Meaning, the one from last summer, plus my most recent one, from the 19th of last month until the 25th of it.
A lot has changed about the motel, at least in reference to the rooms. One of the best features is its location, which is located conveniently right in front of what I consider to be the very best supermarket I have ever shopped in! It is called Ingles, but what really sets this angles apart from all the others I've been to, it's not only the presence of a fuel station, complete with its own separate convenience store, or shop as I like to say, but most importantly, employees willingness to allow for the utilizationof an in-store ingalls advantage card! Most of the other angle markets I've been to, which is basically all of them, do not have a spare ingalls card for a customer utilization. Plus, there are plenty of other neat bonuses about ingalls itself, which I can and will get into at a later date.
For those wishing to book a stay at whispering pines, they're full length pillows may be gone, however, they're cleaning service and convenient location, coupled with their simplicity help to make them a viable motel usage option.
Great motel. Great location. They should make it non-smoking. I think someone might have smoked in my room before me.
That said, I loved it. Clean, quiet, comfortable.
I made this reservation well in advance, because it was for the night before the 2017 eclipse, and I knew hotels in Asheville would book up. The price I booked it for was $75. But on the day before the eclipse, hotels in Asheville were going for $300-$600 because of demand. When we arrived at Whispering Pines, the owner told us we had "called to cancel", which we obviously hadn't, and he showed us a printed out confirmation of our reservation, which he had written on "Called to cancel". And they had no rooms available. He clearly had realized that he could sell our reserved room to someone else for a much higher price, and just pretended that we had canceled it. To top it all off, he was extremely aggressive and hostile right from the beginning of the interaction. We were left with NO place to stay, as everything for hundreds of miles was booked up. What a horrible scheme.
I actually stayed here for a night a couple of years ago, and it was fine, but this hotel is under new management, and the new owners are clearly awful people who will leave you homeless to make a buck. PLEASE save yourself and don't reserve a room here!
