We had a very pleasant stay at Shahnoza Grand. The location is very central which allowed us to pop in and out as needed. The room was comfortable and cozy, it is what you would expect for such affordable accommodation. The owners were very friendly and welcoming and their birds singing in the courtyard was a lovely addition.

Our room was very spacious and incredibly beautifully decorated. The courtyard with its seating area and pool was also lovely. However, what we will remember most is the host's hospitality and helpfulness. We felt very comfortable and can highly recommend it.

Absolutely AVOID!!!
Stay away from this guesthouse if you want to have a great vacation in Samarkand. First of all, the pool on the patio is not as shown in the photos; it's dirty and covered with a filthy tarp with a falling umbrella on top. The entire patio was dirty and unkempt, not at all what we expected. The room was very old, the beds uncomfortable, the towels stained, and above all, it was DIRTY with hair in the sheets (which were definitely not washed). We found a used bottle on a nightstand (which he took away as if we hadn't already noticed), and even worse, we found a used razor in the sink. The owner is truly rude and impolite. We were stranded in Tajikistan due to a flood where we risked our lives, so we had to delay checkout by 5 hours, and he charged us for half a day despite having left the accommodation in this condition. The only positive is the location, but if I may suggest, there are several hotels closer to the Mosque that are definitely superior. This is not the place to stay.

I don't know why there are negative comments here. I arrived a few hours ago with my boyfriend and his parents and I'm enjoying a really large room with a hot shower, a well-divided bathroom that's practically brand new. I found the property spotlessly clean, and the host was truly kind and helpful. In my opinion, full marks and I recommend the place!
