Romantique Hotel De Hanoi in Hanoi

Absolutely terrible hotel, beyond awful. The reality is nowhere near what the photos show – do NOT be misled by them. If you're reading this, please, for your own sake, do not book this hotel:

1. For a family room costing over 600 VND per night, this is the first time in years I've seen a 'double bed' made up of two single beds pushed together. Even worse, the single beds are spring mattresses with no stability – move an inch and you could fall right off! Plus, the window was sealed shut, so there was no air circulation at all, which was pure torture!

2. It's located in a very busy, noisy downtown area. The room itself was cramped and damp, and there was barely any space in the hallway. For over 600 VND, this room was smaller than a budget hotel room back home in China!

3. The air conditioning was broken. No central AC, just an old wall-mounted unit that stopped cooling after a short while. I woke up sweating three times throughout the night. It was actually cooler outside the room than inside!

4. Even though the hotel clearly had plenty of vacant rooms, the booking platform showed it as fully booked, creating a false impression of popularity. They initially assigned us a room on the first floor – the FIRST floor! Right behind the front desk. You could hear every single word spoken at the front desk, with zero soundproofing. It took an argument to get us moved to a different room.

5. The facilities are nowhere near four-star quality. The towels were dirty, and the breakfast selection was extremely limited – just enough to fill a small table. The decor is dated. I honestly don't understand how Ctrip rated this place four stars!

All I can say is this hotel is atrocious to an extreme degree. It's the worst hotel I've ever stayed at in Vietnam. For 600 VND, you could easily get a five-star hotel here. And the hotel even had the audacity to ask me for a positive review! It's utterly horrendous!
