Champa Hue Hotel in Hue

I was at Hue hotel too far from my dentist for a very early appointment. I was able to online book Champa hotel for check in the next day. I messaged hotel asking them if I can come 7am next day and leave luggage and return after lunch to checkin. No reply so went to hotel by taxi to relay same message but in person. I also paid in full for room. This was early evening. As I paid in cash I requested a receipt which they did not want to give. I used google translate and showed them. Lady insisted on giving me room key even though I did not want it since my booking was to begin following day. I thought she did this so she would not be awoken at 7AM to store my luggage. Next day 7AM I arrived. My second day of booking I was at the beach for afternoon, arrived to hotel very tired and hot. This older woman began screaming at me telling me she called me and I must pay money. No missed calls on my Vietnam telephone. Soon another woman that spoke English better spoke with me and I explained situation and also showed her confirmatory message sent via Agoda to hotel to confirm I had paid in full and will checkin tomorrow. This woman understood and apologised, still the old woman screaming like she could not accept reality. Unneeded stress for no reason. Following day when I checked out, the old woman say a plastic bottle of water I had from room and yelled at me again telling me I must pay for it. Agoda page for Champa hotel says free water and indeed this is standard in hotels throughout Vietnam. It is included in price of room. I just paid as I did not want to spend one second more with this lady.

Meh. Great friendly helpful staff and excellent location in the center of Hue. However, room wasn't in the best shape and was TINY. Bed was very hard and the pillows were awful. Also tons of those tiny ants. Bathroom had almost no lighting. Don't be fooled by the photos, the first one is a model and the pool doesn't look like that at all. Also there wasn't always air con, which is crazy because it was over 90°F in Hue. Not a bad place for the price, but definitely not great.
