We arrived at 4.30 am on the overnight bus from Cao Bang and waited in reception until the lady started at 6am. She found us an early checkin bedroom for a reasonable extra price which we were very grateful for.
Area has Bai Tho Mountain which I found entrance for and climbed. Good area for harbour, shopping, markets etc. More chilled part of the city than over the bridge. Well worth the stay and excellent value.
I had a few issues checking in that complicated my afternoon, but in the end, everything worked out.
Please note: coffee is NOT included in breakfast, so it's considered an extra and must be paid for separately.
