The Confetti Hotel Ha Long in Halong

Newer hotel that is fairly clean and is decent value. Would normally rate at least 4 star, but.....they charged 50 k at checkout for using one bottled water. Who charges for water in a hotel? It wasn't even in the fridge or part of the mini bar-just sitting on the counter like complimentary water in every hotel on earth. Except this one, apparently.

I booked this hotel the 2nd time but this time it’s terrible. During the 2 days, fortunately I stayed on the 2nd floor but the construction noise in their rooftop will wake you up since 7-8am. Well it would last until 5-6pm.

Nice hotel with beautiful design. We got the Double Room with Balcony and Sea View, which was spacious, with a little living area, a good shower and a view of the sea.
But that’s the only positive thing I have to say about this hotel. Our experience was far from being good.
The hotel itself is in a remote location, far from everything, in an area with many ongoing construction works and with only a few restaurants around. Not an ideal area for tourists.
The staff seemed a bit inexperienced. Although we communicated beforehand by email our desire to go on a half day tour on the day following our arrival, the staff failed to book us a boat. After we arrived to the hotel, the concierge kept coming back and forth with proposals. Every time he would make us believe we would have a tour, just to return 1h later saying it wasn’t available anymore. We would have been better booking it ourselves. He also seemed a bit unprofessional, leaving us hanging halfway through a conversation to take phone calls. He also tried to come in our room with his key before knocking on the door.
The hotel can be quite noisy. Inside the room you can hear everything happening in the corridors. Also the rooms doors keep making an annoying alarm sound almost every time you open and close them.
The breakfast is just ok, with a very confusing setting and average food.
