Abaata Hotel in Gagra

Good afternoon, thank you to the Abaata Hotel for your warm service and hospitality. I'd like to share all the pros and cons of our week-long stay at the hotel.

Cons:

1. During the fall, in October, the entire hotel, including our room, was infested with about 20 bedbugs as soon as we arrived at night, and throughout the week, they kept appearing in the room even with the windows closed. This, of course, didn't make for a comfortable stay in the room.
2. My husband got food poisoning after eating kharcho soup at a teahouse. He had a fever of 39°C (102°F) and started vomiting. After that, we never went to the teahouse for lunch again.

Pros:
1. Beautiful location and a façade right next to the hotel. There was a park, fountains, an outdoor pool, access to the sea, a sports complex, a soccer field, a ping-pong table, a delicious buffet (we had breakfast and dinner), and friendly service. Special thanks to Petr for the "gastronomic pleasure"!)))!

2. Wonderful spa complex with a pool, sauna, and hammam. Special thanks to massage therapist Natalia, a very pleasant person who truly loves her work. I've never met such a massage therapist; I went to her three times during my stay. I'm very grateful for her wonderful hands.

3. Also, our guide, Midat, explained the trips very well. He was understanding when we were unable to attend due to food poisoning and refunded the full amount. Special thanks for your understanding!

4. The reception staff at the hotel were friendly and always helpful. They helped me with an analgin injection at night when my husband had a high temperature of 39. 🙏🙏 Thank you very much

Nice place with pleasant people. Rooms a bit small, our view was beautiful from balcony, spa clean and warm.

The hotel was wonderful, the food was good, and there was everything. There's just one catch, though. It's a river, and it brings mud and cold. The cold is bearable, but the mud is just too much. I've had to swim in other places, but you can't get enough of it.

My wife and I stayed from December 16th, 2025, to December 19th, 2025. We checked in at 11:00 PM. We were greeted at the reception by Renata, the receptionist. Believe us, we've been to many places and hotels, but this is the first time we've seen such a receptionist. She welcomed us like family, showed us five rooms to choose from in the middle of the night, and all with a smile and an open heart. She resolved all our questions (extra pillows, robes, setting up the split-system air conditioner) overnight. If only everyone at the reception were like her! Honor, praise, and a deep bow to Renata!

A beautiful hotel with a history. There are still a lot of shortcomings, but I don't want to spoil the rating too much. We stayed at the end of May in a superior room with a balcony and an extra bed. Friends were staying with us and they had a room without the extra bed surcharge (two adults and a child, and our friends did the same). It's unclear what we paid for, as we had the same conditions as them. The hotel positions itself as a family hotel, but they should build a proper playground for children; it's shameful and broken. Why post outdated photos in the history of the hotel page and mislead potential visitors on so many points?! At first, we didn't even recognize the playground, and there were no cars in the alley; they were always parked in the parking lot, but in the history of the hotel page, they posted old photos of them in the alley (perhaps this is important to someone). Rooms with normal locations are given out mainly to photographers, travel agents, etc., and it's allegedly impossible to choose and pay extra. The mattresses are very hard, which is actually a plus for some. The floors in the room were dirty with footprints when we checked in, and housekeeping was poor. The soundproofing and doors aren't great, but no one made any noise during the night. The beach bar selection was disappointing during our stay; it took us 20 minutes to get frozen ice cream; we literally couldn't scrape together enough. The beach itself is also poorly maintained. Having only one key is also inconvenient, as the hotel grounds are closed (although strangers do pass through).
Perhaps something has changed and improved since our stay, and that would be wonderful.

Despite the nuances, the beauty and atmosphere of the place overshadow everything; stepping onto the hotel grounds feels like entering another world! It's a kind of oasis in Abkhazia. My daughter was pleased, and her impressions were warm. The Chaikhana and Abbot have a wide selection, and the food is delicious. The church nearby is beautiful ❤️ with the ringing of bells, birdsong, and greenery. But there was no desire to return.

A wonderful hotel. I stayed here from March 20th to 22nd. I loved everything. On a scale of 1 to 5: room - 4+, grounds - 4+, staff - 5. I recommend staying here.

One of the best hotels in Abkhazia. We visited this hotel three times with my wife and three children. We celebrated the New Year twice and were there once in the summer. We were very happy with everything.

Excellent, everything is top notch. Very nice pebble beach, clean water. I liked everything.

This is an amazing place! Cozy, clean and beautiful. Attentive staff. The only problem is unstable internet. But I think it’s wrong to reduce the rating for this.

Impressions and emotions, just super. If you do not pay attention to the little things, a very cool place. I recommend to everyone!
