I stayed at Alpen hotel at Easter, with my two sons aged 7 and 11. We were on a Crystal Ski holiday. The hotel was excellent. Convenient location for the bus to Galtur, a very short walk to town, beautiful views from the room. The staff were truly exceptional and professional. They made the holiday. The food at the hotel was outstanding. The rooms were immaculately clean. The kids were able to use the sauna and jacuzzi every day after skiing. We didn’t use the TV as there were no stations with English. There’s a play park at the bottom of the driveway. Delicious baguette and cakes are available late afternoon every day. It’s a lovely traditional, quiet hotel. You sit at the same table for breakfast and dinner so it’s friendly and you can have a chat with the other guests. I would love to return. We were so well looked after.

We stayed at the Alpenhotel Tirol on a Crystal Ski package holiday and can only echo the comments of previous reviews. The hotel is well situated on the edge of the village centre, so is in easy walking distance to the ski bus stop, ski hire shops, bank, bars and supermarket. As others have said, the road up to the hotel is steep but you get used to it, although I’d advise getting a locker at Sport Walter by the bus stop for €30 to store your ski equipment for the week to make it easier on yourself. The hotel is a bit dated, especially the rooms, but they are a good size and more than comfortable, with lovely views of the mountains . The hotel staff are all really helpful and friendly, and went out of their way for a member of our group to accommodate her food allergies. The food in the hotel, for breakfast and dinner was excellent and plentiful. The free après-ski snacks in the bar were an added bonus, but often we couldn’t manage them. Having free water served at the table at dinner was also a plus and a rarity in Austria. It encouraged us all to buy extra wine, which was excellent and reasonably priced. Galtur is a small quiet village which suited us, as it provided a contrast from the busyness of Ischgl. The uncrowded skiing in Galtur is good albeit limited and is only a few minutes away by ski bus. For more extensive skiing, travel in the opposite direction for about 15 minutes on the ski bus to Ischgl. Past Ischgl, are the small resorts of Kappl and See which are worth exploring if you don’t mind spending time travelling and fancy somewhere quiet. All in all, I would recommend this area for a late season ski trip, thanks to the altitude which keeps the snow in relatively good condition throughout. I would also have no hesitation returning to the Alpenhotel Tirol.

Me and my dad stayed here for a skiing holiday, the hotel and staff were great, and the location is ideal with frequent busses to different locations. Morning and dinner we had Gerald serve us, he was fantastic to deal with and extremely helpful, Gerald alongside the other staff all made our trip a very memorable and enjoyable experience. We would highly recommend and we hope to see the same staff next year.

I rate this hotel highly on the basis of value. As such, I am giving it 5/5, although it is not a five star property. The good points: * The staff are excellent * The food is good (dinner especially) * Some rooms are large, with a balcony * The sauna is open all afternoon, as is the steam room * Drinks are very well-priced (500ml beer around €5.50, decent bottle of wine €30) Areas where tiny investments could have a big impact: * Some access to water near the sauna * Hooks on the back of the doors in the toilets (which are separate to the bathroom in some but not all rooms) * A clock in the relaxation room * Our main room had no shower curtain across the bath, meaning we couldn't use it to shower without making everything wet (we used the great shower in the kids' room). This could be solved for the cost of a pressure-fit shower curtain (maybe €30?). Things to note * All ski runs are a bus ride away (Wirl, Ischgl, Kappl) but the bus is free and regular * There is a hill up to the hotel, but you get used to that * Room and bathroom decor is dated in some rooms (1970s maybe?) although reasonably modern in others

Absolute gem from first minute to last. Start with the hill which is as everyone says a bit of a walk with the luggage on the first night but after that just comes as part of the holiday, we would definitely say use the lockers in Galtür rather than walk in ski boots but that depends on you. The food from breakfast to afternoon sandwiches and cakes to dinner is first class not one thing on the full holiday did we not like !! The staff from the front desk to the waiters and waitresses to the cleaners are all absolutely wonderful. My wife and I used the spa on numerous occasions after walking or skiing and that was great as well. All in all we had a fantastic experience at this hotel and would definitely go back 👍

We have stayed in Iscghl a number of times, so decided to look for somewhere different. We have witnessed great hospitality in Austria, but we have to say Peter, Peter’s sister and the full team were amazing! The hotel is extremely well kept, facilities are superb. Breakfasts very good and the evening dinners were exceptional!(gourmet level). We had 3 children in our party, Peter and his kitchen served up great children style dinners as an alternative to gourmet! The ski bus runs every 10mins to Iscghl, Werl and Lappl. The latter 2 resorts are smaller than Iscghl but with some excellent runs. The hotel is ideally placed to enjoy the 3 resorts. I do have to mention Peter’s team again, all smiles and all so lovely!

We decided to pick up a last minute bargain ski package holiday in Austria and this was the Hotel in the package. We read the reviews and they were all very positive. We can confirm that this 4* family run Hotel is excellent. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful and the food was superb! Offering a very wide breakfast choice buffet style, free afternoon cakes and sandwiches and finally a five course evening meal. The rooms were excellent and in that lovely old wooden, Tyrolian style with beautiful views of the valley. In rhe cellar are the ski and boot rooms with a wellness centre consisting of whirlpool, sauna and steam room. The Hotel has a bar and lovely common room with panoramic views. I cannot speak too highly of this Hotel for quality and service and would definitely go again.

Second time we stayed here and we will definately come again. Food fantastic with plenty of choice and my highlight light was coming back to afternoon tea after day on slopes. Great choice of cakes served with tea and coffee. Hotel staff extremely friendly and helpful. Great to see staff still here from previous year. Sauna and spa area lovely after day on slopes. We used these facilities every day. Bar area great and made many friends their sharing our experiences on the slopes. Room immaculate and great to have balcony with stunning views. Skiing brilliant again. We would recommend spending at least one day 8n Kappl and See which we're deserted. Many thanks to Peter and staff for a fantastic stay.

Very comfortable hotel, ideal for a ski trip with friends. The hotel is well situated, just a 15 minutes bus ride to Ischgl and only 10 minutes from the home slopes at Galtur. Kapel, is only a little further away but well worth a visit. Our room was spotlessly clean, as were the public areas, bar, dining rooms and spa. The bedroom was large with plenty of storage for our gear. The bathroom was fitted with a double wash basin and a lovely bath. The loo is separate to the bathroom, a nice feature. For skiers, there is a large boot room with heated racks, a separate ski room and a comfortable seating area for boot fitting. The only downside for skiers is the hotels location, atop a steep but short hill. The journey both up and down is a nuisance and would be particularly so in icy conditions. We opted to rent space in the nearby Intersport shop to leave our skis and boots, for only 2 Euros a day it was well worth it. You don’t need to have hired kit there to use this facility so I would recommend it to anyone. Dining at the hotel was superb. Evening meals were a six course affair, with a choice a three main dishes. The chef’s are obliging and prepared to cater for dietary requirements. Breakfast is buffet style with the usual array of cheeses, cold meats, hot eggs and bacon. Even the fussiest of eaters would not be disappointed. Afternoon tea is served daily in the residents lounge. A plentiful supply delicious sandwiches and cakes can be found until 17.15, just what you need after a day on the slopes. Overall, an excellent hotel, ideally situated for exploring the extensive slopes of the Paznaun ski area.

Quality through and through. The owners and staff played a huge part in making our visit very enjoyable, it was an absolute pleasure to stay in this hotel. The food is of the highest standard with great options for breakfast and evening meals.

We had two wonderful days at the hotel, which had everything we needed! Breakfast was excellent, and we also enjoyed a pleasant evening in the pine-paneled lounge! The hosts were attentive and very friendly!

A very beautiful, family-run hotel in an absolutely breathtaking setting. I felt very comfortable from the very first moment. Including hiking tips and an evening in the alpine pasture with a taxi service. With a bit of sadness, I unfortunately had to head home far too soon.

But the promise AND the threat stand. This won't be my last visit!
