Alpenromantik Hotel Wirlerhof in Galtuer

I ski, therefore I am. I’ve had the joy to stay at countless top hotels in Austria (check out my past reviews) and this one is right up there with them. Location can’t be beaten for skiing, barely a stumble from the ski room to the lift. Great staff, lovely food, and splendid wine menu. Perhaps getting a little old and tired in places (but so am I), although the spa is magnificent. All that I can say is ‘give it a Wirl’.

Just returned from the Wirlerhof in Galtur. This traditional Austrian gem is beautifully appointed. Excellent service from multilingual staff and tasty cuisine to satisfy everyone with menu choices including Vegan. Perfect location with bus to Ischgl or Landeck stopping outside and lifts to local slopes just yards away. Wirl is very peaceful but the Wirlerhof has an apres-ski stube and provides evening entertainment. Having said that there is no disturbance from the venue in the other areas of the hotel. The ski boot room provides heated boot racks but not individual lockers. There is a ski rental shop next door too. The owner is always present and attentive to guests needs. We will definitely return and can thoroughly recommend.

Just back from a short ski break at this hotel. We found everything about it was excellent. The room was spacious (we had 111) and very comfortable with everything just perfect. The housekeeping was excellent with a towel change every day. Bathroom fine with plenty of shelf space, good shower. Heating cosy but controllable, lighting good, beds comfy. The only possible issue is that tea making is not provided (nor is it normal in Austria) but we did miss it! The hotel's position is ideal; about 100 yards from boot room to chair lift with Sport Walter ski hire shop adjacent (also to be recommended). The hotel spa facilities are quite extensive with 3 steam rooms of various heats and a sauna (all naked over 13's only). There is also an attractive swimming pool adjacent. The breakfasts and dinners were first rate. A good selection from the breakfast buffet including hot options. They will also do fried eggs to order. Dinner normally includes about 4 courses plus a lovely salad buffet. There is a choice of main, usually fish or meat. One night we had the gala dinner which was a set menu and delicious. Drink prices were not excessive at about 4.60 euros for a 125cc glass of nice house wine and about the same for a small beer. A 1 litre bottle of water at about 6 euros seemed a bit steep though. There was no tap water served. Finally it must be said that the staff, without exception, were charming, attentive, well presented and very ready to help. We would love to return!
