Falkensteiner Schlosshotel Velden – the Leading Hotels of the World in Velden am Woerthersee

Wonderful place with great atmosphere and lovely staff. I really like to see that whenever I come here, I see the same staff. It makes you feel like “at home”. Whenever I had any problem, it was solved immediately and without any unnecessary hassle.

During my last visit, there were many sauna ceremonies with Alexandro which were simply amazing. Highly recommend.

The only thing I wish there was is a cold plunge or some cold pool for cooling off after the sauna. Hopefully they’ll add it soon.

Love this place! Beautiful spa, good gym, beautiful surroundings

It was awesome, and I can't wait to go back.

The place is amazing, and the hotel has everything you could want. The service was perfect. The only downside is that the rooms are a bit dated and could use a refresh.

The location and the staff is excelent, and they have clean rooms, a very nice restaurant and a super-good spa, but in my room there was a moldy pole and there was a little door (the door was not locked) in which I found lots of cables, the internet router and god forbid, a child might have touched it. This things are not normal for a 5-stars hotel, and please be sure that the rooms are secured! In rest everything was magnificent!

What a stunning location! We truly loved Schlosshotel Velden. We travelled with our children and my MIL and everyone had a great time. The food was great, the location was unbeatable. Beautiful, large rooms, with everything you could need. We walked through the town of Velden, rode E-bikes around the lake, went paragliding and even shot down to Lake Bled for a day. One of the highlights of the trip was a boat ride out to dinner in Maria Worth, which was so stunning. Had the best time and would not hesitate to go back!

We stayed for two nights as a family at the Falkensteiner Hotel in Velden, booking two rooms under the same reservation. While the hotel enjoys a beautiful setting on the lake and has impressive facilities, our experience fell short of what’s expected from a true 5-star property.

What we liked:

- The lakeside location is superb, with direct access to Wörthersee and elegant hotel design.
- The wellness area is well-maintained and relaxing.
- Some staff were friendly and professional.
- Breakfast was varied and of good quality.

But several issues were unacceptable at this level:

- Room allocation: Despite a shared family booking, we were placed on different floors in opposite ends of the hotel. No effort was made to keep us even remotely close.
- Child supplement, no added value: We were charged €80 per night for our child, but received no third towel or any child-specific amenities — not even the basics.
- In-room slippers: Only size 40 slippers were provided, which were unusable for an adult with size 44 feet.
- Bathroom functionality: The towel dryer didn’t work, and the shower temperature was impossible to adjust — swinging between scalding and freezing.
- Language barrier: Several breakfast staff could not speak English, which is surprising and inconvenient in a hotel catering to international guests.
- Wine pricing: Wines in the restaurant were hugely overpriced, even by luxury hotel standards, which took away from the overall dining experience.

In summary, the hotel has the infrastructure and location of a premium destination, but the service, coordination, and guest experience need significant improvement. It felt like a 4-star stay priced and presented as 5-star.

With better attention to detail and guest needs, this could be a truly outstanding hotel. For now, expectations should be adjusted accordingly.

Falkensteiner Schlosshotel Velden is a true gem nestled in a picturesque location. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and exceptional service. The staff's attentiveness and willingness to assist made our stay truly memorable. The hotel itself is a sight to behold, with stunning architecture and impeccable design. The lighting, in particular, creates a magical ambiance throughout the property. It's the perfect setting for a romantic getaway or a relaxing vacation. The culinary experience at the hotel is equally impressive. The breakfast buffet offers a wide array of delicious options, catering to all tastes. The restaurant serves exquisite dishes, prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Overall, Falkensteiner Schlosshotel Velden is a well-managed establishment that delivers on every aspect. It's a place where luxury meets comfort, and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking a truly unforgettable experience.

Nestled in Velden on Lake Wörthersee, in the Austrian province of Carinthia, the Falkensteiner Schlosshotel Velden is a luxurious retreat with a rich history dating back to its origins as a Renaissance castle in the late 16th century. As a member of the Leading Hotels of the World the Schlosshotel Velden is operated by Falkensteiner Hotels & Residences, which took over the ownership & management of the hotel in 2011. The hotel boasts 105 exquisitely designed rooms & suites, offering breathtaking views of either the castle garden or Lake Wörthersee. During my stay, I was allocated a Junior Suite Deluxe in the contemporary annex building. The Junior Suites Deluxe offer an expansive area ranging from 58 to 78 square meters & feature separate living spaces, king-size beds, lounge sofas, work desks, reading chairs, two flat-screen TVs & luxurious marble en-suite bathrooms. Additional amenities encompass touch displays for room control, complimentary Wi-Fi, a Nespresso coffee machine, a minibar, a complimentary bottle of water daily, & welcome sweet treats upon arrival. The white marble bathrooms, illuminated by natural light, feature dual washbasins, a freestanding bathtub, a rain shower, a separate toilet & bidet, as well as Falkensteiner branded bath products from dispensers. Spacious, furnished terraces, complete with a sun lounger & a table with two chairs, offer exceptional views of the historic castle grounds, the garden, & Lake Wörthersee. The Schlosshotel Velden was originally built in 1590 as a Renaissance castle for Count Bartholomäus Khevenhüller. After changing hands multiple times it became an inn after a 1762 fire, & was transformed into a hotel in the late 19th century. The Schlosshotel Velden is also known from TV due to its appearance in the popular German TV series "Ein Schloss am Wörthersee" (a Castle on Lake Wörthersee), which aired in the early 1990s. A sumptuous breakfast buffet is typically served in the elegant ballroom overlooking Lake Wörthersee or on the terrace in summer. During my stay, breakfast was relocated to the "Salons Restaurant & Atelier". The buffet selection includes fresh pastries & breads, spreads & jams, regional cold cuts & cheeses, smoked fish, cereals, yoghurts, vegetables, salads, fresh fruit juices, including those you can prepare yourself on a juicer, & hot breakfast dishes. À la carte breakfast dishes such as freshly prepared omelettes, Eggs Benedict, Austrian pancakes, or porridge are offered on a complimentary basis. The breakfast service was friendly, though it lacked efficient coordination. An underground tunnel conveniently connects to the hotel's beach club, which is located across the road in front of the hotel, featuring a

Best place to stay at Wörthersee!
Fantastic hotel on a very high level! Equipment and athmosphere is breathtaking.

Everything about this hotel is first-rate. My fiancé and I stayed in a tower suite and were greeted with handwritten stationary congratulating us. The front desk was also outstanding and their Ritz training and influence is evident. Jean and Domen were there the majority of the time and I can’t say enough kind things about them. Lastly, having spent many years rehabbing sports injuries, this is hands down the nicest spa I’ve ever seen or experienced and my fiancé and I left feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and appreciated. P.S. Don’t miss their brunch, it is truly spectacular!
