Great hotel. Especially for families. 5 min walk across the street to the gondola. 10 min walk to grocery /village. Breakfast and dinner buffets are plentiful and varied. Family pool and sauna are large and adults only spa is beautiful (pool, sauna, steam room and gorgeous views of the mountain). Snack at 3pm every day is also great! Would recommend this place to everyone!

Fantastic Family Ski Hotel – We’ll Definitely Be Back!

We stayed at SPORTHOTEL WAGRAIN as a family of two adults and two children (aged 2 and 7), and the main reason we chose this hotel was for the childcare facilities — and they absolutely did not disappoint.

Both children attended ski school (yes, even our 2-year-old!), and one day our youngest actually asked to go to the childcare instead of skiing — which really says it all. The childcare team were outstanding and took excellent care of both kids. We were also told that the facilities are being expanded for the 2027 season, which is fantastic news.

The location is superb — just a 2-minute walk across the road to the gondola (you can actually see it from the hotel’s front door). Having ski hire and storage in the hotel made everything so convenient, especially when travelling with young children.

The food was top class. Breakfast was excellent with a fantastic selection. Dinner was equally impressive, catering brilliantly for both adults and children. On one or two nights I may have helped myself a little too much from the children’s buffet — it was all such great quality! Honestly, I couldn’t fault the food.

There is also an afternoon snack served from 3–5pm — although “snack” doesn’t quite describe it. It’s more like a full buffet meal. The only slight drawback for us was that tea, coffee, and hot chocolate were not included and had to be paid for separately. In other hotels we’ve stayed in, complimentary tea/coffee/hot chocolate with cake was usually available in the afternoon. If I’m honest, I was a little surprised to see such a large food offering instead, as it almost felt like too much before dinner. Perhaps a simpler offering (cake with tea/coffee/juice like at breakfast) might work better. Just a small suggestion!

The spa, gym, and pool facilities were excellent — absolutely no complaints there.

What really stood out was the staff. It genuinely feels like a family-run hotel where staff are valued and well looked after. Many seemed to have been there a long time, and they were extremely well trained, professional, and attentive. 10/10 to the entire team.

One small suggestion would be to manage the temperature in the dining room during dinner, as it can get quite warm.

Overall, this hotel is excellent. You certainly won’t go hungry, and the quality is never compromised. It’s the best ski hotel we’ve stayed in, and we will definitely be back next year — and very likely the year after!

Highly recommended for families

We have just come back from this wonderful hotel. We had the luxury twin room with a double sofa bed, it’s a really big room and extremely comfortable, if a little hot. We rented our skis from the hotel in the basement, very simple process and charged to our room. Each room has its own heated ski locker. In the morning you would head out of the ski room and down the slight hill and across the bridge to the grafenberg lift. It’s a short walk which feels a bit harder on the way up hill on way home but no problem. The food at the hotel is outstanding, lots of choices at breakfast and In the morning you choose from 3 choices for dinner, a meat, fish or vegetarian course for the evening meal. Don’t worry if you are not keen on any you can choose a schnitzel or there is always the kids buffet every evening, numerous salads, soups and bread. You will not go hungry. You also get tap water free of charge. I had a decent house white which was 4 € for a small glass or a Riesling was 6 € . A large beer was 6.50€. There is an afternoon buffet from 3-5 which has hot food and some cakes. I personally would prefer just cake and coffee or tea as we had to buy the hot drinks separately. We had a wonderful waitress called Helena, she was one of the highlights of our holiday, she was such good fun but also professional. The adults only pool was excellent , a nice temperature and we enjoyed seeing the G-Link pass overhead and watching the skiers come down the mountain. We felt the family outdoor pool was a bit cooler though but the family pool itself was a nice temperature. What sets this hotel apart is each one of the staff members are super friendly and professional . We did not find one staff member that did not say hello or offered to help or was super polite, this is a rare thing. The skiing also was excellent, we enjoyed every area to Flachauwinkel, Alpendorf and Flachau, all enjoyable and great for most levels of skier. We took the buses a few days which were just across the road at the grafenberg lift, one to the star jet at Flachau and the rote 8 er and also the flying Mozart. They ran exactly on time and were so reliable. I’d definitely recommend to stay here. We will hopefully be back!

A good hotel with good facilities for people who do not ski during the ski season. Food was excellent and not too much when half boarding for 7 nights.

Been twice and this hotels offers great value for money. Included childcare was excellent for our three-year-old. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed. Spa facilities are fantastic - especially the adults only spa. Food is consistently good and the kids’ buffet means it’s easy to feed them quickly! The ski hire shop is fantastic and the heated boot stores are perfect. Just taking a mark off as some of the common areas like staircases and corridors and the games room look dated. But overall you won’t be disappointed. We’ve had two fantastic holidays here.

Probably one of the best ski hotels we have stayed at. Very close to the Grafenberg lifts, probably a 3 minute walk with boots and skis downhill. The hotel is perfectly central to the ski area so you get to ski Wagrain, Flachau, St.Johann and Zauchansee, although Zauchansee is alot to do in one day we found. I couldnt understand why the ski bus doesnt go to Zauchansee from Wagrain as this is a fantastic area with alot of km's of pistes. I did feel the links between Zauchansee and Flachauwinkl could maybe do with a link like the panorama link. Back to the hotel! - The hotel itself is situated in a perfect location, close to the Grafenberg lift, or you can easily get a ski bus to the Flying Mozart lift. The hotel is clean and spacious, always warm and provided lovely breakfasts and dinners. The dinners were to a very high standard and there was lots to choose from. The hotel did put on an afternoon tea I think between 3pm and 5pm where you could have hot meals such as soup and a main, and some cakes. Some things I was disappointed with: Surprised at no coffee! - in my opinion the hotel is better off ditching the soup and main dish, leaving cakes and adding coffee. I'm somewhat surprised as well as there is no coffee facility in your room. I'm thinking there is a reason, such as knowing people would like coffee so get them to pay for it. To the hotel if they read this, please get rid of the soup and main dish, leaving cakes and adding coffee - that would be perfect and is quite common in other hotels. It would probably save you money by not providing the soup and main dishes. I was a little disappointed as we had arrived late, that we had paid for a full day and there was nothing left out for us in the evening - this is usually the case at other hotels. I think it was more of a hit when on our last day at breakfast it seemed they were keen to get rid of us, taking our plates quickly. Check out was at 10am! (very early) and that the maid walked into our room at 9.58am. We went to the reception to ask for a late check out / or pay for a room but there was nothing. It all seemed like you've had your stay now go type of attitude which was a let down on the last day. However, that was our last day and it didnt spoil the hoilday. The rest of the stay was fantastic and theres not much I can say other than the things mentioned above that could improve this hotel. Pros Hotel centrally located near the Grafenberg lift Warm & clean Staff were excellent A great heated boot room with your own locker provided Fantastic food with lots of choice A lovely indoor swimming pool and outdoor, with sauna and steam room A great games room Cons No coffee in the room or coffee making facilities. No coffee provided at tea (please forget the soup and mains and add coffee) Felt a little rushed to get you out of the door on the last day 10am check out is way too early - usually at other hotels its 12pm - please think about changing this

Excellent from start to finish! We were extremely impressed by the food and service. The choice at dinner and breakfast was varied. The balance of flavours was perfect and extremely well presented, and we loved the afternoon buffet. The extra little touches - from the tags for our robes and bag to house our towels to the morning mail - make this hotel stand out from the rest. We would recommend the Sporthotel for its food, facilities and friendly staff and we would love to return!

A truly wonderful hotel making a great holiday. The luxury twin room was spacious, clean and modern and every day we came back to the room cleaned and refreshed. Suited family of four (14 & 12 years old). We had a balcony with lively views. There was a small minibar, which we didn’t use. Only thing missing was a kettle, but wasn’t really a miss. Food was professionally presented and delicious with the staff attentive. One evening the beef was a little too undercooked for hubby’s taste and they were so happy to bring him something else, he declined, but it was a lovely touch. We were given the same table for the week which was lovely and relaxing. The kids buffet was excellent if the kids chose not to eat from the main menu. So much choice to cover the fussiest of eaters. The family pool was fantastic with an indoor and outdoor pool with a sauna for all to enjoy. The infinity pool on the 7th floor was adult only (over 15) and beautiful views of the slopes. We hired equipment from the hotel which was ideally situated in the garage so took the lift down each morning, had our own locker with boot warmers and then a short walk out the hotel, down the hill and across the road to the main 2 gondolas. Could not have been easier. Highly recommend
