IHS Hotel in Varna

A real throw back to soviet times. Very old fashioned, which I don't mind to be honest. The beds were much comfier than they looked, and the room was clean, and had a great view. The hotel is in a brilliant location. However, its badly let down by the food and drinks. Dinner was very basic. The staff in the dining room looked like their nan had just died. Only water was included. After dinner we went to the bar at the top of the hotel. They had no alcohol free beer, so i had a water. The supplied glass was filthy. This continued to breakfast, again, next to no choices and my wife fancied a tea, but struggled to find a clean cup ( they were actually filthy, not just stained as tea/coffee cup can be). The cleanliness of the bedroom was a sharp contrast to the dirtyness of the dining room and the bar. And the contrast in staff was visible also, with reception being very pleasant and helpful. I doubt we will stay here again ( never say never) but it would have to be a better price as we wouldn't eat there again. Perhaps we are not the target market, as the majority were local pensioners, but I think they deserve better.

That must be one of the hardest reviews to write. The staff is amazing very calm,friendly and patient. We have arrived late but the staff was aware of our arrival so the food was waiting for us. A+++ . The food was traditional ( nothing modern or luxury) cooked to perfection. We have tried a few items and everything was amazing, reminds me of my grandma's cooking 🍳. The location is amazing, we had a room on the 10th floor with the most amazing view of the sea 🌊 and the entire resort. Unfortunately that is where the good experience ends. The main reason for choosing this hotel was the thermal mineral pool. The advertised water temperature is 32-36 on this day the thermometer in the water was showing 27. So the pool was cold the shower in the pool area had only cold water and the pool walls ware extremely dirty, changed colour from blue to orange from grime and dirt. Absolutely disgusting, my wife refused to go to the edges of the pool as she did not wanted to touch the walls. The entire building is fallen in disrepair, I have noticed two different rates for renovated and standard rooms. So it looks like some of the money are reinvested in renovation, I hope the management will be able to freshen this place up before it is two late. Such a shame 😞.

It is a very well located hotel as if it is next to the beach and almost in the centre of the town. It is very high building so the upper floors offer a great view of the sea and of the entire place. It is also recommanded for the numerous parking lots. On the other hand, it offers to its guests a thermal water swimming pool that is great for everyone.
