For a hostel so desperate to improve their online ratings, they don’t seem to be trying hard. The facilities (such as kitchen and shared bathrooms) are messy and dirty. For example, during my three night stay the soap in the female bathroom was empty the whole time. And, worst of all, the majority of the staff (most of whom are volunteers) simply don’t care about the guests. They’re loud, rude, and act as though they own the place. It’s a very unwelcoming environment to be in when the volunteers are acting obnoxious.

For a hostel with a lot of potential, it simply falls short.

EDITED NOTE: I am aware that the owner of the hostel has since responded to my initial review. For further clarification, I note that I extended my stay as a result of a bus cancellation and it was simply more convenient to stay one extra night than find alternative accommodation. Further, I do not recall making any comment at check out about my stay. And finally, it seems to be the female staff (it is my understanding that at least two of them that I encountered were volunteers) were the ones that were most difficult to interact with; the male staff were very pleasant and accommodating.

This place was a bit like home in Santiago for me. Good location, short walks to the metro station due to current closures of some stops, really nice breakfast with crepes and awesome social atmosphere. Made friends here everytime I returned (4x😅). also best and cheapest laundry service as you just get to chuck your clothes into the massive washer and dryer yourself for little money. great opportunity to just finally wash It all.

Natalie at the reception is very friendly and helpful. She was one of the folks I communicated with by email when the whole riots in Santiago broke out. They assured me that the city was getting to normal. The staff is very friendly. I arrived way early due to my early flight from LA, but they let me stay in the living room and take a nap (after barely slept a wink on the plane of 10 plus hours) while having my backpack locked in their storage room. I included a few photos taken nearby the hostel. Summer is almost here, so everything is turning green and the old buildings and architecture is just gorgeous to look at, but it’s too bad that the recent protests and riots certainly marred the otherwise calm city. The hostel itself is only a few blocks away from where protesters marched when I was out for lunch, but other than that it feels safe contrary to some ugly graffitis all over the walls in this area. (I am wiring this review in the presence tense because I am still staying here. I’m leaving early tomorrow morning for another town.)

This is a nice and maybe a little too quiet family hostel. The rooms are all clean and a little fancy. Staff is attentive and polite. The crowd was older some with small kids which was a bit annoying. It's a good place when you want to check out the center for a day or two...

Pareceu legal, fiquei apenas 1 noite. Mas fui bem recebido de forma geral

So fiquei uma noite. Mas meu quarto era ao lado da recepção que era muito barulhenta.

Sunday evening around Plaza de Armas not many dining options. This one open till 10PM is a rare offering. Generous portions so beware of how much you order. Main attraction seems to be chicken (based on what fellow diners were ordering) but don't go past the rice with seafood. We also had octopus as starter. Huge plate more than enough for a meal in itself. Tender and delicious if you get past the colour if the sauce splattered over it. It is made from olives and tasty but purple colour can be offputting for some. Would be much better if sauce served on the side. Feed your hunger not so much the eyes?
