Scandic Ruoholahti in Helsinki

I stayed at Scandic Ruoholahti during the summer and was disappointed by the room temperature and housekeeping standards.

The air conditioning did not work properly, and when I raised the issue with staff, I was advised to open the window instead. Unfortunately, this did not adequately cool the room. During the same trip, I stayed at another hotel in Helsinki and experienced much better air conditioning, so this did not appear to be a weather-related issue.

The room remained warm throughout the night, and I woke up with a dry throat and poor sleep quality.

Housekeeping was also below expectations. Room service was not carried out during my stay—the bed sheets were left untouched, and used towels in the bathroom were neither cleared nor replaced.

While the staff were polite and the location is reasonably convenient, the lack of effective air conditioning and poor housekeeping significantly affected the overall experience. I expected a much higher standard from a hotel in this category.

In no way shape or form is this a 4 Star hotel. Rooms were extremely spartan, felt like a college dorm. Air conditioning was non existent, not a problem if the windows would open....which they don't. Sweltering 25° rooms. Only redeeming factor was the staff and sauna (the actual sauna, not the rooms that turned into a sauna). Breakfast was adequate.
