Last night we visited this restaurant for dinner with high expectations, given its strong reputation. Unfortunately, our experience with the service and overall organization was deeply disappointing.

We ordered grilled steak and waited 1 hour and 15 minutes, while guests who arrived after us were served considerably earlier. After approximately 30 minutes, another waiter approached us to reconfirm our order, which clearly indicated that it had not been properly entered into the system.

After 1 hour and 10 minutes of waiting, I personally addressed the waiter and was informed that the kitchen had still not released the dish, and he apologised on behalf of the kitchen.

Such a level of disorganization reflects not only on the service team, but also on the kitchen and overall operational management. Efficient coordination between floor staff and chef is fundamental in any serious establishment, particularly one that positions itself at a high standard.

To be fair, the quality of the food deserves 5 stars — the steak itself was excellent. However, the service, communication, and organizational execution deserve 1 star.

We still recommend this restaurant because the culinary potential is clearly there. However, greater attention must be given to operational discipline and guest communication.

We will return, and if we see measurable improvement, we will gladly update this review to a full 5-star rating.

I had to make a reservation 3 days in advance due to its popularity. However once we got there (me, my girlfriend and 2 friends of mine - 1 black & 1 asian living in Strasbourg), we were shocked by their lack of professionalism and racist behaviors from the waiters. We arrived at 12 PM when the place was still not crowded. However, we had to wait even with a reservation and they made us go the 2nd floor and one of my friend is handicapped… Once there, they sat us at a diagonal table which was supposed to be for 2 people and didn’t let us choose any other tables although we were the only customers on that floor. It was a window table but you couldn’t see nothing and my friend got sun direct onto his face. The waiters showed very racist behaviors: they don’t take our coats to put them away; they don’t bring water occasionally; we ordered a special dish from the place and the waiter didn’t explain how to eat it until we asked for it (but he did explain to other customers if they had the same dish); the waiter didn’t answer when I spoke to him in French and only replied in English after a while. Because my alsatian friends came here often so they knew that this wasn’t normal.
For a cost of 200 euros for 4 people, this was not what we expected in return: being sat in a bad spot; not being taken care of; one waiter who spoke French in a weird way; 3 waiters - 1 spoke French in a weird way, 1 replied to me in English even though I spoke French to him, 1 served and didn’t explain the dish until we asked for it.
For a restaurant named “Maison” this is outrageous, this place is even famous for showing up in the Sherlock Holmes movie.
If you are looking for good food, do come here. If you don’t speak French or are not white, do consider coming here because you will be treated differently.

Beautiful historic spot for a meal in Strasbourg. You can feel the history in the dining room, with its beautifully preserved wood interior and walls covered in photos of famous guests.
The traditional choucroute was perfectly cooked—we tried both the classic version and the house‑special fish choucroute, which was originally created here.

The service was friendly and efficient, but you definitely need to book ahead. A great place to taste authentic Alsace cuisine in a truly historic setting.

Visited on a Monday for dinner around 6pm and it was not too busy. We were seated right away for a table of 4 on the 2nd floor.

The sauerkraut and three fish was absolutely delicious. We saw many reviews highlighting this dish specifically and ended up ordering 3 for our table.

I don't generally like sauerkraut, but this was a bit more mild than normal and paired very well with the fish and sauce.

Service was also very good and the white wine our waiter recommended to us really complimented the meal.

What an wonderful dinning experience in Strasbourg. I went to visit Alsace because my great grandma is from there and it was a great experience. I had the 8 meat Choucroute and it was a delight. The coleslaw was very good. You can see all the German influence in this city. Quite historic as well, and the dish shows it. Great service, very friendly staff. Had a great time
