Alpes Hôtel du Pralong in Courchevel

A week in March with extended family of varied skiing abilities. We chose the Alpes Hotel du Pralong because of the ski in and out location onto a good beginners lift and an adjacent chairlift for those seeking a good piste and easy access to the rest of the skiing. We also wanted a relaxed five star experience with traditional elements and that exactly what we got. The ski room was great. Hotel staff were excellent, very helpful but not too much, allowing us to properly relax and enjoy the great food etc. The gym needs its own larger room with AC and some free weights. Will be back.

We just got back from an incredible trip to a hotel nestled at the bottom of the slope, right next to the chairlift. If you're after an authentic mountain hotel with ski-in and ski-out access, this is definitely the place to stay. We had a fantastic time. Our room overlooked the slopes so that we could enjoy the sunrise and sunset right from the balcony. The view was absolutely breathtaking. We looked forward to breakfast every morning because the food quality was excellent. We also dined at the hotel for lunch and dinner. The swimming pool is of a good size, and the jacuzzi is warm and perfect for unwinding. Overall, the hotel offers a comfortable and very convenient stay. What made our experience even better was the exceptional service from the hotel and concierge staff—absolutely top-notch. A special shoutout to the ski room staff: they are super friendly and efficient, helping us put on and take off our ski boots with ease. You can literally hop onto your skis without lifting a finger, and every morning, your skis are waiting for you outside the ski room on the slope. We highly recommend renting skis there, as they handle everything for you.

We‘ve been to Courchevel many times but without doubt, this was our favourite hotel we‘ve stayed in. The decor on arrival was a little underwhelming but the warm welcome from the staff quickly dispersed any doubts. The room was simple but clean and comfortable and the views of the mountains were spectacular. For skiers, this hotel couldn’t be more ideal. Every morning our skis were laid out ready to go. The staff in the boot room couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. Every member of staff in this hotel has clearly been well trained and customer service is obviously very important to the whole team. We chose half board and the food was excellent. The atmosphere and ambience was relaxing and enjoyable especially with the incredible pianist and care from Manager Harold. We cannot wait to revisit this hotel.

This is a tricky review to write.  

The good - staff once we arrived were helpful (concierge beforehand was very erratic and responded to some emails but not to others, even when gently chased); room was cleaned nicely; location great for skiing (less so for town); breakfast good; ski room (independent company) really helpful if expensive.

The not so good - we would agree with other reviews we have read which say this is not a 5 star hotel.  The rooms - and we had paid for an upgrade - were pretty basic, especially the bathrooms which only have a small shower over the bath.  The wardrobes didn’t close properly and a handle was missing plus part of the frame on the bathroom door was unpainted.  In addition, the TV reception was awful and made the TV almost unusable, the in-room tablet which was meant to show room service and other amenities to book did not work.  In addition, the walls and ceilings/floors have awful acoustics - we could hear everything from our upstairs neighbours including them using the toilet (and I don’t just mean the flush!)

I know this is Courchevel 1850 and it will be expensive but the hotel is nowhere close to worth its cost and I would not recommend.  We have been fortunate enough to stay at some amazing places around the world and this is a decent 3-4 star at best.

As a British guest who has been coming to Courchevel for many years, and who usually stays at Le Lana, I can honestly say this was a very pleasant surprise. The Alpes Hôtel du Pralong offers a level of comfort, service and atmosphere that I did not expect to surpass my usual standards — yet it did. The hotel feels warm, refined and genuinely luxurious without being stiff or ostentatious. Service is attentive, discreet and professional, the rooms are beautifully designed, and the overall experience feels personal rather than corporate. Ski access is excellent, and the calm, elegant ambiance makes it a real refuge after a day on the slopes. I would not hesitate to return, and for me this has now become one of the very best addresses in Courchevel — if not better than some of the more famous names. Highly recommended.

Another level of 5 star services. What an incredible piece of art!!! With astonishing views of the mountains. Cultivate your zen attitude through their amazing Spa, sauna, pool and fancy jacuzzi. Then jump to the most beautiful ski spot in the world. Hospitality at its best with quality service team members dedicated to make your stay unforgettable. "A MUST SEE PROPERTY"

Not enough shuttles (long wait). Very friendly staff, but an additional shuttle would be nice.

Be careful with the dog sledding (rude manager). A reservation for two sleds was moved from the 10th to the 13th (dog problem...). Then on the 13th, we arrived a few minutes late (waiting for the shuttle). The manager refused to even give us one sled out of two. He told me to see the manager. I asked who it was, and he replied rudely. Don't take the dog sledding tour. SCAM.
