Reviews
Breakfast is nice, although the choices are limited.
Have to note though, staff have been very nice.
Breakfast was sub standard, too. Choices were limited, and quality was disappointing for a 4 star hotel. Service was also slow, they run out foods for quite some time at the time we visited.
The only positive thing is that the bed was quite comfortable.
We stayed in the first room where the flush didn’t work properly. We asked to change rooms and then heating did not work properly. The heating seems to be an issue in this hotel with many people we met who complained about it.
TIP for anyone who is reading this review while staying in the hotel: if you’re freezing and want the room to heat up, set the HVAC system to 5 (instead of higher numbers)… at least that seemed to be making the room a little more bearable!
The only nice thing I can say about this place was that staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good!
- First room: safe doesn't work at all. A/C couldn't be felt even when my hand was next to the vent.
- Second room: different only because the safe worked.
Room was small, but very clean. A little more room would have been ideal, but not much could be done.
Service Staff at Breakfast were excellent! Courteous, friendly, helpful. Offered to refill my water bottle without even asking. Very thoughtful.
Finally left without checking the bill too much, assuming it was all good. Later, on checking, I saw they had charged me an additional breakfast. Emailed them, and rather than correcting it, they replied saying it is right. Had to finally point out that I was one person, so it would be one breakfast for every night I stayed. Finally they agreed that it was their mistake.
Overall, not my best experience at a hotel.
Bar is a bit expensive, though the restaurant was worth it the two times we went. It is a shame both are closed at the weekend.
Rooms were clean, comfortable and serviced every day. Didn't hear any noise from fellow guests. Handy USB sockets next to the bed were handy for charging. Bedding was clean, mattress was super comfy. Shower had plenty of hot water available, and showed no sign of mould.
Location is fantastic with tram stops are not to far away. Vary large and busy park minutes away and if you want to get to city centre it is a 15-20 minute flat walk with plenty of restaurants, cafe's and bars along the way.
We will definitely stay at this Mercure hotel for our next visit to Grenoble.
Negative: my room was a bit too warm, AC was not working properly.
The reception staff were indifferent to us, failing to help when they could have easily offered help. When we contacted them to ask about parking, they only wanted to point out that our room was not ready yet. They never acknowledged our ALL status and require training in greeting ALL guests.
If you have an important meeting the next morning, you will arrive with sweat stains on your shirt. You will not have control over the room's temperature. The hotel must be aware of this, because when we complained, they had spare electric fans waiting to be sent up to our room. Perhaps they should repair or update the air conditioning instead. The windows are not screened, so you cannot find relief from the room's heat by opening the window.
The breakfast choices were limited - though the lady who runs the breakfast was friendly and professional. She could teach the other staff some of her interpersonal skills.
We stayed two nights and the heat was troubling enough, we considered moving to another hotel. We recommend repairs to the A/C, training of reception staff, and including metric sizes on the parking description in the ALL application so guests can decide if their car will fit in the limited space.
There were several smaller issues with the room as well, but the summary is ... we cannot recommend this hotel until some changes are made.
