This is a very good commercial hotel in a great location for public transport. Unfortunately, we were put into a room more suited to commercial travellers rather than those held out in the publicity. We were moved eventually but got the impression the staff didn't really care too much. Our eventual room was what we paid for but in my view we were overcharged for most of our stay. The place was very clean, breakfast adequate. Our main issues were, given we are a bit plus-sized, the shower in the original room and the lift. I refused to use the shower due to its size and the lift was, shall we say, very cosy. I wouldn't like to have used it with someone I didn't know- in case they got the wrong idea. Pleasant enough, but not a place I would use again.

Do not stay here. The hallways, rooms, and the lift smell like literal poo. You either smell it through your nose, or you block your nose and taste it with your mouth. It must be a sewer leak or something but it is disgusting and not healthy at all. The room is tiny, there isn’t even room to open your suitcase.

The hotel is a 10-15 minute tram ride from the Lyon main station however conveniently located close to the metro and tram stops. It is a 20m walk to Presqu’île with the Saône bridges, shops and cafes. The rooms were clean and well maintained however they were tiny and one had to efficiently try and manage within the limited space. The lift too was claustrophobically small and we mostly opted for the stairs. The breakfast spread was good and a redeeming feature.

Despite it's low TripAdvisor ratings, this is a great hotel - clean rooms, friendly service, small bar for nightcaps and right beside metro/train.

Bonjour! I really enjoyed my stay at the Villa Berlioz.
All the staff was exceptionally welcoming, friendly and kind.
With a special thank you to Alexia at the front desk for breaking stuff down in english and being so helpful.
My room was very clean, tidy and just perfect for my needs.
The hotel was easy to find and very central to many places, restaurants, metro and bus station.
If I am ever in Lyon again definitely would look forward to visiting Villa Berlioz again. A lovely bunch keep up the good work.

Perfect stay. Great location right next to a tram stop and super close to the main station. The room was clean and the bathroom very large. We enjoyed the free tea facilities in our room. The guy manning the reception at night was wonderful (Indian gentleman, I can’t remember his name). The tiny lift was entertaining.
