Hotel Hippodrome in Paris

Small but cosy, incredible location, friendly staff. We had a great time! Hotel is old fashioned looking but that's no problem, rooms are small but you're not spending your time in Paris in a hotel room, are you!

Things I liked especially:
1. Nice room lighting. Overhead lighting kills me immediately
2. No bedbugs. If they were there, they'd have found me, the most delicious man alive
3. Very sweet owners. They speak French, Italian or English. They treated us very well. Because of our appearance, my partner and I are used to people treating us poorly. But the staff here were very kind and respectful.
4. Soft bed! I know some people prefer a hard bed but my body is like a handful of loose rocks and I must go in a soft bed
5. Location - simply could not be beaten.

For a 2 star hotel we had a very comfortable stay.
The shower room was a bit small but the room was good otherwise .
We asked for a couple of extra bits for drinks, this was no problem staff very helpful and friendly.
Breakfast was served at 9 a.m., consisting of baguettes and croissants herbal tea/coffee.
The area was a perfect location for visiting monmarte a 20-minute walk away.

Basic, but good enough!

+++ Really good location and friendly staff! Before the trip I was scared because of reviews about bed bugs, mold and awful smell, BUT there was nothing like that! The hotel is basic and old - yes, but it was clean and okay to sleep there at night!

- Beds could be more comfortable

Booked last minute on the day we were staying (as we were leaving our options open travelling around France). We booked a double room with private bathroom for £74. We arrived at 4pm, our room was on the second floor, there is no lift, so you will have to take your own luggage up. The room was a good size (for a typical french hotel) and separate toilet and bathroom. There was a large opening window and a fan, so it was comfortable even in the heat of the day. The lady and gentleman who checked us in and looked after us were lovely (no English!) and friendly. The hotel has a great location! It's a 2 minute walk from the Moulin Rouge and opposite Flunch! Everybody needs to visit Flunch for a meal at some point! Place de clichy metro is 1 minute walk. All in all, a good stay, great nights sleep and for a typical budget hotel is Paris, I would stay again.

Very nice hotel, staff attentive and friendly.
Excellent location for traveling and very reasonable room price.
Rooms were very clean, although one was a bit small but it did have a massive four poster bed in it, lovely!
Fresh rolls and pastries for breakfast extra coffee no problem.
Only possible downside is that it has a narrow spiral staircase to reach the bedrooms. If you had mobility issues this may be a problem.
I would book this hotel again if I return to Paris in the future.
