Holiday Inn Paris - Gare de Lyon Bastille by IHG in Paris

I’m not sure how this place has any one-star reviews—we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were spotless, and the shampoo and body cleanser smelled amazing. The staff were exceptionally polite and helpful. Breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of options. Love the expression machines! Plus, the location couldn’t be better: restaurants, grocery stores, and a bus stop are right outside, and the metro is just a block away. Extra secured. Most have key card to enter and leave facility.

I love the room facing the street but not noisy. I love the friendliness and understanding of the staffs here too. I am busy at work and they certainly did a good job with room services and common area services to allow me focus on work. The room walls are not thin too so its quiet.
Location is good too as i need to head to the train station the next morning, its very close.
All is good with this hotel.

Holiday Inn Gare de Lyon was incredible! Our check in/check out process was seamless and the service was top-notch - some of the best I’ve seen while on my travels. The breakfast was delicious, the concierge was so friendly and accommodating. The rooms can be a bit small, but that is normal for Paris. The stay was comfortable and quiet as well. When we return, we will be looking to stay here again. Merci beaucoup for the hospitality!

The room was rather small for 2 travellers in 1 room. The shower screen was not the best at keeping water out of the shower area. Overall, the room is okay for a quick stay.

I could complain that once I open my suitcase, the room transforms into a game of “don’t step on your own shoes.” But this is Paris — space is a luxury, not a guarantee. If you want room to cartwheel, may I suggest the Bois de Vincennes?

I could mention that the kettle and instant coffee setup feels a bit… basic. But let’s be honest: if you’re not heading down to the corner café for a proper espresso and a fresh pain au chocolat, then you’re not doing Paris right. There’s probably a charming spot five minutes away run by a man named Gérard who’s been grumpy since the ’80s but makes a café crème that’ll change your life.

I could say the mattress is on the firm side — somewhere between orthopedic and existential. But after a day of walking up and down Montmartre, honestly, I was out like a light.

And sure, the breakfast buffet isn’t exactly a bargain. But neither is that €9 glass of wine you ordered in Saint-Germain-des-Prés — and you still enjoyed every sip under a heat lamp while watching Parisians pretend not to notice each other.

But here’s the thing: I’m not complaining.

Because back in the U.S., a “quiet hotel night” is about as rare as a friendly Parisian waiter during lunch rush.
There, you’re serenaded by your neighbor’s late-night Netflix habits, mysterious thuds from above, and that uniquely tragic breakfast featuring “eggs” made of dreams and powdered despair.

Here? It’s calm. It’s clean. It’s respectfully indifferent — which, in Paris, is practically five-star hospitality.
The front desk staff might not beam with joy, but they hand you your key with the same efficient coolness as a barman in the Marais pouring a glass of red without asking your name.

The location? A little outside the classic tourist circus — which means no souvenir shops selling Eiffel Tower keychains, no overpriced macarons in technicolor, and no one bumping into you with a selfie stick. Instead, real Paris. A boulangerie that locals actually go to.

So — bravo, Holiday Inn Paris. You’re not trying to be the Ritz, and thank God for that. You’re simple, reliable, and wonderfully Parisian in the way that actually matters:
No frills. No fuss. And just enough charm to make me want to come back — next time with a smaller suitcase and a better scarf.

Good location, not too touristy, Gare de Austerlitz and Lyon very close. Near the Seine, walking along is wonderful. Service has been wonderful for an American who doesn't speak much French. Rooms are a little difficult for independent, solo travellers.

I'm not sure if this is the case in Paris in general, but it was incredibly cramped.
A family of three booked two rooms, but they gave us an attic-like room that required dragging a large suitcase down stairs, which was disappointing.

I stayed here for one night whilst travelling in June. The hotel is within walking distance of Gare de Lyon and is beautifully presented. Reception staff were friendly and the room was lovely. I was initially given a room on the fourth floor and unfortunately had a medical episode whilst going up the stairs. Multiple staff members walked past me without asking if I was OK, and I felt like such a burden! However, after around an hour i felt better and made my way back to reception and was moved to a lower floor without any issue. Again, reception staff were lovely. Check out was easy and again, friendly.
If I were to stay in Paris I would stay here again. The room was very well presented and the reception staff were friendly and approachable.

The front desk staff was very nice and the breakfast was good.
