Mercure Orléans Centre in Orleans

We stayed at this hotel on the way to and from our holiday in the South of France. The location is great, an easy walk into town and easy to get to from the major roads. The communal areas of the hotel are well done and the breakfast was good however some of the rooms did not live up to the rest of the hotel. On the way down we were put into a room on the top floor which was fine, on the way back however we were on floor 2 and it was like staying in another hotel. The corridor had bleach stains up and down the carpet, the cleaning cupboard was left open with the door wide open which was dangerous with young children. The room was very dated, with paper cups, no sewing kits etc which were in the other rooms, no sockets near the bed, the shower screen was not sealed down to the bath and so the floor got very wet during a short shower, the double glazing was poor and so there was a lot of noise from outside as well as lots of banging doors up and down the corridor, the air conditioning was inefficient and extremely loud. Our door didn't close properly which we didn't realise until coming back. There was no difference in price between the two rooms, so if you end up with one of the refurbished ones the hotel is fine however if you end up with one of the others the rooms are extremely over priced

Stayed here twice in August to break journey from the UK down to the south of France with my family.
It's in a good location to see the centre of Orleans (10 minute walk) and has a private car park. These were important features to us.
However the rooms were very poor for a 4-star hotel and did not offer value for money.
Paper cups, chipped paint, rain shower head not working, in-room safe not working (room 208 if you're reading this Mercure staff), the room was styled from the 1990s. The breakfast was ok and the staff were all friendly. But the rooms are in desperate need of modernisation.
At approximately 180 euros per room per night this is extremely expensive for what you get. I will not be returning.

The food was very over-priced and of poor quality.

The room was way too hot and paying so much for a 4-star hotel room, having paper cups is not acceptable. The exterior of the hotel looks very shabby, the lack of a sensible location as it is very difficult to navigate to just added to the gaggravation. The staff were pleasant and some helpful but it is all over-priced for what you got. The eV chargepoints in the piravte car park were a welcome addition for an eV driver but the first one I tried didn't work so I missed the opportunity to get a full charge during dinner which gave me a lot of issues the next day.
