A very old, and dated, but clean hotel in central Tours across the street from the train station. I liked it but it is not for everyone. There was a slight smell that I would attribute to the age of the hotel, something like you`d sense in an old book store. It wasn`t bothersome, and something you might expect in older, similarly level establishments. Some maintenance and repairs required, but nothing major (example loose baseboards needed to be nailed in). We had error on our bill (double charge for parking), but when brought to the attention of the helpful front desk agent, it was quickly resolved

Only stayed one night wish it had been a good bit longer. Edward and his wife very helpful. I could have spent the day in my room watching the world going by. Tours wonderful.

Lovely, authentic and comfortabel hotel. In the center of Tours, just near the train station. Very friendly staff (husband and wife) which speak English quite well (especially compared to other people in France!) Fine and clean rooms and tastefull breakfast. Best transit hotel we've had in our tour(s) de France and in my opinion it has a much better price-quality ratio than budget hotels from big chains such as Ibis and HotelF1.

Really Bad welcoming with a snoby girl. Room disgusting without light and view directly on Noisy street. You can hear your neighbour walking on your head. Toilet and bath really really tiny you cannot turn on yourself. And all of this for 72 To 80euros per night!!! I did not check yet thé wifi and the breackfast but it s more an hostel than a hotel for sure!

If you are looking for nostalgia, a feeling of how things were 30 years ago then the Hotel de l’Europe offers that, for sure, but at a compromise. That compromise is only appreciated when you have travelled and stayed in modern purpose-built hotels. The walls in modern hotels are sound proofed, when the neighbouring room flushes the toilet it does not sound like a thunderstorm. The beds are comfortable and all is up to modern standards. You don’t get any of this, at the Hotel de l’Europe, but it is convenient for all local amenities and walking distance to the main station. The staff are polite and efficient and the rooms are exceptionally clean, not a speck of dust anywhere. So, it is hard to significantly downgrade this hotel by concentrating on the negatives. So, I am not going to do that, but if you are a light sleeper or sensitive to noise, at night, then a modern facility would be more suitable, otherwise the location offers many advantages that an hotel further out may not. Tours is a fabulous compacted city, and everything that France should be, there are many great restaurants, budget bistros and endless rows of shops, some quirky, some recognisable brands. One nearby street is full of antique shops and expensive art shops, I enjoyed browsing in the windows. All in all, a good time when all factors considered.
