Le Ponteil in Antibes

We booked this on the basis of the reviews here but things have deteriorated greatly. We were given a horrible, tiny, stuffy room at the back. The reviewer who said if you're staying longer, ask for a bigger room is not right. We couldn't even he ask because we were told as soon as we were brought to our room that we would not be moved, even though the hotel was not at all full, and that there would be no discount because we did not book directly with them. Not a nice welcome or a nice room at all. Breakfast? They buy it from the nearby bakery on their way into work, that's why you have to order it the previous night. At 10.00am on our first morning, while we were still eating, the woman there started making her presence felt so we speedily went out for the day. After that, we just went to the bakery every morning ourselves for cheaper, bigger portions and more pleasant service. It is just down the hill, turn right on the main road and walk to the end of the street. RULE:No food in the rooms. Good rule and, well, the grounds are nice with lots of tables,so we asked if we could bring our sandwiches back for our evening meal? Short answer was NO, OK! Ok, we ate elsewhere. The beach was handy and had more warmth and welcome than these two owners! As for relaxing in the TV Lounge, as shown in the official pictures, forget it, the owners are sprawled across the 2 sofas all evening. This is not a hotel. It's nothing more than an over-priced Night Shelter and your job as a tourist is to pay the mortgage for the owners and then stay out of their sight! As for laundry services, we didn't ask them because the laundry just down the hill does a 5kg wash, dry and fold for €14 in just a few hours. One last tip, avoid the man owner, he can't give a straight answer to a straight question and talks at length with stupid sound effects. We came home more tired than when we started.

The hotel was well-located near the old town. However we found the facilities (namely the bed) and service to be terrible. We had booked a triple room for 3 people, however the room was clearly meant for 2, only two water glasses were supplied. The third "bed" was virtually a wooden plank that we were not able to sleep in
