This is arguably the most filthy and run down hotel I have ever visited, and in this price range absolutely outrageous. The hotel is not just outdated, but also extremely dirty. The garden is a wilderness, the pool is broke and has no water in it, the corridors and rooms have been gathering dust for months, cobwebs full of living and dead spiders everywhere. (Found at least +10 huge spiders in my room.) The windows are so dirty you can barely see through them. The bathroom has damp spots all over and the mirrors are filthy. We did not dare to test the hotel restaurant. We returned to the hotel at 9.30 pm on a Friday evening, everything was pitch dark and all staff had gone home. This was one of the most expensive hotels in the area and we left after 1 night looking for an other hotel. Absolutely not recommended!!

It was both 5 star and 1 star. Beautiful location, iconic institution on the Rhine, majestic buildings - but boy, in dire need of a restore, with past glory rapidly fading into neglect. Feels like current management is milking its past reputation without investing into upkeep of the building and its infrastructure (eg bathrooms, electrics etc).
Service patchy (table service great, reception not), breakfast sub standard (you have to pay for a cappuccino - OK 20 yrs ago, not now), but we had an excellent family celebration with a very good dinner. Overall a very inconsistent experience…

Really charming. Despite being built in 1540 (!) it’s got the modern things you want - strong wifi, lots of hot water and great water pressure. Service was great. Needed at fat at night and they delivered to room fast. Breakfast was extensive. Close to a train but quiet - no noisy crossing or train horn blasts. I’d stay again. Very reasonable price for the quality.

Definitely an absolutely beautiful place with a lot of charming, history and nice views either to vineyards or the Rihn.
We couldn’t imagine that this hotel was really keeping the essence of the 2n oldest hotel in Germany. They are doing amazing!

Food is pretty good, though pricey, but the service was very unfriendly. Looks like they don't appreciate English speaking customers.

Beautiful hotel with a great view of the Rhine. Comfortable bed and very nice bathroom. This historic hotel is well-preserved and is fun to experience. The trains are frequent and loud throughout the night, so this may not be the right place for light sleepers or if you forgot your earplugs. Rooms are not air conditioned, but you can request a fan. Friendly staff at check-in.

The place is great. Very reasonable price for a room with balcony in the middle of the summer. Excellent food in the restaurant.

Oh yes...this is an awesome experience! What a great find in todays rushed modern world. This hotel is 500 years old and has the feel of a historical place. Worth the visit...I consider it a MUST.

Very nice place. We stopped to eat and drink something, and everything was delicious, the service very well, and the location is amazing because you are just in front of the river.

We had a cheese platter, a beautiful local reisling, homemade cheese cake & beer and it was beautiful! The service was friendly and the setting is very relaxing. It was also a very good price and the cheese platter was plenty for 2 people. Felt very authentic & family-run. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Cafe Post. Steve provided excellent service throughout our 3 day stay. Room was very clean and comfortable for the three of us. Bathroom is modern. Food was fantastic. Steve takes a lot of pride in his hotel. Recommend highly.

Extremely quaint hotel with beautiful rooms overlooking the Rhine. The hotel is clean, with private bathrooms. Service was outstanding with a lovely, extremely friendly proprietor. We had to leave early to catch a train, and he woke up early to make us an early breakfast. Would definitely come back!
